The Somali Red Crescent Society is currently looking for a qualified candidate to fill the vacant positions of POP nurse in Keysaney Hospital, Mogadishu.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Ø Prepare for arrival of patients POP
Ø Explain to patients what you are about to do.
Ø Remove existing POP with care.
Ø Apply POP according to Doctor’s order.
Ø Explain to patient the special care for drying process.
Ø Instruct the patient to inform the ward staff if they experience pain, decrease in sensation, coldness, or numbness of the limb in plaster.
Ø Instruct the patients to avoid scratching of the limb in plaster.
Ø Instruct the patient not to get plaster wet and how to protect the plaster.
Ø Instruct the patient to frequently move toes fingers and elevate the effected limb.
Ø Instruct the patient to mobilize on doctor’s request only.
Ø Report to the doctor any abnormalities as a result of POP such as broken skin, infection, and allergy.
Ø Report to the doctor if alignments is poor or the existence of drop foot etc.
Ø Clean POP saw and other instruments after each use.
Ø Report malfunction of instruments to head of theater.
Ø Inform cleaners to clean the area after each patient.
Operations Management:
• Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the OPD health programme line with strategic priorities
• Identify capacity-building needs of the auxiliary and volunteer nursing team and ensure they are properly trained and well supported to implement programme activities.
• Participate in emergency preparedness, rapid assessments and emergency responses
Education
Bachelor/Diploma in Nursing/Midwifery with experience in maternal and child health or equivalent qualifications.

Language Requirement
Demonstrate proficiency in Somali and English languages
Relevant Experience
Minimum 2 years relevant experience in implementing an integrated health program consisting of maternal and child health, immunization, nutrition, HIV/Aids as well as health and hygiene promotion within a humanitarian context
