Sompower was incorporated in 2016 by local investors after amalgamating over 39 standalone Electricity Service Providers who were scattered all over the city where each used to power certain segment of the city
The overall objective of the amalgamation was to increase the efficiency of service delivery to customers and to direct resource allocation and deployment from one centralized point
Since the establishment, the company grew in leaps and bounds by increasing its generation energy mix (as it has now hybrid system of Thermal and Solar) capacity, building New Transmission and Distribution networks, connecting more customers (both heavy and light users) to the network
This growth resulted in the improvement of the safety and quality of power delivered to the end users, drastic reduction of the frequent power outages and enhancement of the network reliability
The company is currently able to provide round-the -clock electricity to its customers without any hitches as the single point of failure has been completely eliminated by the introduction of series of redundant systems able to back up the main feeder lines
The tremendous growth of Sompower has hugely contributed to the Socio-Economic development of the country and betterment of many lives as 24/7 economy activities is no longer a mirage but a reality in the city and its environs
Being the largest Electricity Service Provider in the country means, the company is also one of the largest employers in the country.
