About the course:
This practical-oriented skill training is tailored to wide range of professionals in various educational backgrounds, and in different technical or managerial roles, as well as to entry-level and newly graduated students. The course aims to equip participants with the practical knowledge, skills and tools that professionals need to communicate effectively and with purpose - through clear, credible and persuasive reports required for inform decision making in their current work (project, program, organization, etc) or for potential growth.
Strictly speaking, report is a written and well-structured document for a specific purpose and for pre-defined audience. Reports are an important part of any professional work in any business or organization, whether public, private or non-for-profit sectors. There are many reasons for writing and communicating a report, such as to analyze situation, investigate problem, monitor performance, evaluate project/program impact, and so many others in domains and contexts. In general, a good reporting process should be drown upon standard principles, common techniques and best practices that are relevant to the most common types of professional reports.
In this training, you will expose, learn and practice on report writing cases in step-by-step hands-on process: stating the purpose/ objectives; planning for the structure, process and content; researching and reliable information; analyzing to synthesize the critical insights; writing in plain and professional style; drafting, editing and re-editing the report; sharing for feedback; and finalizing and communicating the completed report for action.
Target audiences:
This course is intended for wide range of audiences of various professions and responsibilities; including technical teams, project management teams, operation teams, finance, HR, M&E staff, field officers, among others.
It is designed to support anyone who feels that the ability to write and communicate professional reports would help them succeed in their current positions or future career growth.
By the end of this short professional training, you will improve your report writing and communication abilities:
1. understand and apply the general principles and standards of professional writing in practices
2. Able to state and reflect on the purposes/ target audience for different reports in different contexts;
3. Able to plan well for the writing process, scope and structure;
4. Able to map, search, critically review and analysis information collected;
5. Able to synthesize the important information, insights, ideas and conclusions to make;
6. Able to write in plain and professional language and style;
7. Able to effectively and meaningfully communicate the report/ exclusive summary to your audience
Training approach:
The training is delivered by senior manager, practitioner and trainer who has an extensive practical experience for professional and technical communication, including developing high quality reports on his domain of expertise.
To maximize your learning outcomes, the trainer will deploy mix of presentations, practical group activities, peer-to-peer discussions, and real professional report cases. In addition, trainees will be guided, supported on their individual writing report cases selected by participants. Training notes and additional learning materials will be provided to all participants.
Certification:
Upon successful completion of the training, participants will be awarded certificate of achievement.
