Organization Profile and Background
Welthungerhilfe is a non-profit organization headquartered in Germany that aims to reduce hunger and
poverty. It has its ETH/SOM Regional Office in Addis and a Programme Office in Hargeisa, Somaliland.
Welthungerhilfe has been implementing development projects in Somaliland since 2001. Multi-sectoral projects
have been implemented in the Awdal, Marodijeh, Togdheer & Sanaag Regions for the past 24 years.
Presently, Welthungerhilfe has implementing projects in Awdal and Marodijeh, Togedher Regions focusing on
Wash, environmental and agriculture projects. The projects are funded by The Federal Ministry for Economic
Cooperation and Development of the German Government (BMZ), GIZ and WFP, and other Donors.
Position Information
Job Title: Project Officer
Duty Station: Cayanabo, Somaliland
Department:  Pending for Funding- this role is a subject to a funding
Reports:  directly to Head of Project
Job Summary Overall supervision of implementation of relief project, prepare distribution report.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct community consultation and meetings
2. Work with Food Management Committees to ensure WHH and WFP receive feedback from the beneficiaries on the project, including information on complaints related to food quality
3. Ensure and check the list of beneficiaries before submission to the donor
4. Overall supervision of the implementation of Relief project activities.
5. Implement technical direction for food distribution and ensure high
6. technical quality of the project.
7. Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and another key stakeholders for a coordinated implementation of project activities.
8. Conduct regular visits to the communities where beneficiaries reside in order to collect feedback, follow up on their food security status.
9. Provide distribution reports as required after each food distribution
10. Record and report the missing food items after the distribution
11. Prepare and submit weekly activity reports to the CBT Manager/Deputy area Manager.
12. Execute other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Skills and qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education
 Bachelor’s in health, Nutrition, ICT and any other related field of study.
 Strong skills with the Microsoft Office Suite,
Experiences
 Minimum of two years’ experience in humanitarian responses, livelihood, nutrition.
 Strong technical writing skills
 Experience collecting information using hand-held GPS devices
 Qualified candidates from project target location have an added advantage

Language Excellent in English and Somali languages (both verbal and written) Skills and Competencies

 Works effectively well with client and stakeholders
 Listens and communicates clearly, adapting delivery to the audience
 Identify ways and implement actions to improve performance of self and others.
 Excellent Team player; able to work in a multi-cultural environment
 Willingness to travel and stay long in remote and difficult areas
 Able to take initiative, self-motivated/independently working
 Organized personality
 Willingness to learn and to share knowledge
 Creative, flexible and pro-active
 Interpersonal skills and intercultural competence
 Knowledge and skills in developing measures of project/program success
 Leadership and people management skills
 Good in time management
