Background

Somali Children Welfare and Rights Watch is a local humanitarian, non- political, non-profit and non-governmental independent organization, which is dedicated to Promote Somali Children. SCWRW not only advocates all important child rights that have not been obtained by the children during the over decade civil conflicts and the existence of the former regime, but also expresses its role of restoration the normal life of the children in particular the distressed and disadvantage ones in the collaboration stakeholders. Due to our long operational history, we have established positive working relationships with key stakeholders, including national government, local authorities, donors, international and local NGOs, as well as the trust and acceptance of the communities themselves.

The Internal Audit role will make Audit requirements of the SCWRW, design and implement robust systems of internal control. The role will evaluate the effectiveness of internal policies, procedures, and standards by which the SCWRW financial, physical, and information resources are managed based on international standards and best practices.

Reporting structure

The Internal Auditor role will work directly under the supervision of the SCWRW Executive Director. It will engage directly with the Officers of departments concerned by specific areas of activities. (e.g. Administration and Finance, Program and project managers, Procurement team, etc.).

Context of the Project

The SCWRW is transforming it's Finance and Administration department and aims to ensure the Organization's resources from Donors are being utilized in a fair, equitable, and transparent manner. Therefore, senior management has developed a comprehensive Financial & procurement Manual that should create an accountable environment for all SCWRW staff. In order to ensure adequate internal controls are in place, it is paramount for the SCWRW to establish an Internal Control function that can enforce the SCWRW policies and procedures are adhered to by all the SCWRW staff.

  • Because SCWRW’s work is based on deeply held values and principles, it is essential that our commitment to children’s rights and humanitarian principles is supported and demonstrated by all members of staff. SCWRW Code of Conduct sets out the standards which all staff members must adhere to

 

Skills and qualifications

  • CBA in Internal Audit , Public Administration, BA, Developmental Studies or related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Internal Audit or similar role
  • Experience in Internal Audit, from conception to delivery
  • An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules and step-by-step action plans
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management
  • Teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance control
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Planner
  • Ability to foster effective collaboration on multi-sector programs.
  • Evidence of strong, proactive leadership in complex multi-stakeholder contexts
  • Hands-on experience with Internal Audit
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English Language and Somali Language especially Mai dialect.
