AYUUB NGO  is a non-profit, impartial, non-political and voluntary national NGO based in South Central Somalia with offices in Banadir region, South West State, Hirshabelle and Jubaland states. AYUUB was established 1991 in Ayuub village- Merka district.

AYUUB NGO has responded to Somalia’s worst humanitarian crisis for over 30 years amidst civil unrest, hunger, disease, drought and floods that have ravaged the horn of African country as a national leader in humanitarian programming in WASH, Livelihoods support, CCCM, health, nutrition, education, child protection and child rights governance. 

Our long operational history and broad geographical coverage of Banadir region, South West State, Hirshabelle, and Jubaland states have afforded us tremendous working relationships with key stakeholders, including the national government, local authorities, donors, international and local NGOs, and more so, the trust and acceptance of the communities we serve.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• S/he will be required to conduct sensitization and MUAC (middle upper arm circumference) screening of Pregnant and lactating women (PLW) and children under 5 years
• Administer questionnaires and collect measurements (e.g., weight, height, MUAC) to assess nutritional status and health conditions.
• Identify individuals or communities at risk of malnutrition, such as children under five, pregnant women, lactating women, and other vulnerable groups.
• Recommend suitable interventions based on screening results, such as supplementary feeding, nutritional counseling, health education, or referral to healthcare services.
• Provide clear explanations of the screening process, address questions, and ensure individuals' privacy and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with a team of nutritionists, health educators, and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and effective interventions.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of screening data and report in a timely manner.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of screening programs, providing recommendations for improvement.
• The nutrition screener will screen, tally, register and coordinate the screening of children to verify their age at the distribution point, the nutrition screener/register Additionally is required to train the Nutrition volunteers
• The Nutrition Screener is required to possess significant experience in inter-agency coordination in management of complex field-based operations and emergencies, good knowledge of program management and solid experience in technical field of MCHN/TSFP/BSFP
• Stay updated on screening methodologies, nutrition guidelines, and best practices in maternal and child health.
