AYUUB NGO is a non-profit, impartial, non-political and voluntary national NGO based in South Central Somalia with offices in Banadir region, South West State, Hirshabelle and Jubaland states. AYUUB was established 1991 in Ayuub village- Merka district.
AYUUB NGO has responded to Somalia’s worst humanitarian crisis for over 30 years amidst civil unrest, hunger, disease, drought and floods that have ravaged the horn of African country as a national leader in humanitarian programming in WASH, Livelihoods support, CCCM, health, nutrition, education, child protection and child rights governance.
Our long operational history and broad geographical coverage of Banadir region, South West State, Hirshabelle, and Jubaland states have afforded us tremendous working relationships with key stakeholders, including the national government, local authorities, donors, international and local NGOs, and more so, the trust and acceptance of the communities we serve.

Responsibilities:
- · Teach and share information about important health topics for mothers and children, such as prenatal care, safe delivery, breastfeeding, immunization, and child nutrition.
- · To ensure the recording of patients' information with accurate data on a daily basis through the health educator record book.
- · Talk to people in the community and help them understand why MCH is important, encouraging them to adopt healthy habits and behaviors.
- · Work together with local healthcare providers, community leaders, and organizations to plan and organize educational activities about MCH.
- · Offer guidance and support to pregnant women, new mothers, and caregivers, answering their questions and giving advice on prenatal care, breastfeeding, nutrition intake and taking care of children.
- Provide health education and counseling on nutrition, breastfeeding, hygiene, and other relevant topics to promote maternal and child health.
- · Keep track of how well the MCH nutrition education programs are working by collecting information and using it to make improvements and increase the demands of nutrition intake.
- · Advocate for the importance of MCH services and programs, both in the community and with healthcare decision-makers.
- · Stay informed about new research and the best ways to help mothers and children stay healthy.
- · Position directly reports to MCH in charge and Nutrition supervisors.
Skills and qualifications
AYUUB NGO is looking for passionate applicants with the following qualifications.
- · Bachelor's degree or equivalent in public health, health education, nursing, or a related field.
- · Good understanding of MCH issues in Somalia, including the cultural and social factors impacting maternal and child health.
- · Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as health educator for Nutrition programs.
- · Knowledge of evidence based MCH interventions and best practices.
- · Experience working in MCH education or related roles in Somalia or similar contexts.
- · Strong communication skills to deliver culturally sensitive educational messages.
- · Proficiency in the Somali language.
- · Basic skills in monitoring and evaluation to assess the impact of MCH education programs.
- · Ability to collaborate with healthcare providers, community leaders, and government officials.
