Job description

Project Assistant - WASH & Infrastructure – Hygiene.

The Role:

The project assistant will implement world vision WASH project activities at community level. S/he will be working under supervision and guidance of Project Officer WASH & Infrastructure. The position holder will conduct hygiene promotion, campaigns, and meetings to the targeted communities in Somaliland. The position holder will support the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in conducting beneficiary verification and participating in assessments. S/he will be responsible for community sensation, mobilization, distribution of WASH supply and trainings to the targeted project areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Project Officer in conducting periodic assessment, baseline studies, context analysis of field realities and give feedback on the same. Actively participate in beneficiaries’ selection of water truck voucher for households and hygiene kits.
  • Ensure there is an active Management Committee (At least 40 % women) for every constructed / rehabilitated WASH facility among the targeted community.
  • Ensure the hygiene education and campaigns are conducted among the targeted community members in IDPs, health centers and schools. Organize hygiene promotion campaigns at house hold level.
  • Supervise and monitor hygiene activities and follow up communal latrines users and school latrines to be used properly by the students.

Skills and qualifications

  • Degree in any of the following - Community Development, Public Health or any other related field.
  • Skills in community led total sanitation (CLTS,) child hygiene and sanitation transformation (CHAST) and/ or   Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Methodology (PHAST) tools.
  • 2 years of experience in Project implementation of preferably a Community development / health or / WASH Project.

Working Environment:

The position is field-based in Berbera, Somaliland with frequent travel to other target project locations. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.
