Junior Geologist

Position Title: Junior Geologist

Base Location: Berbera, Horn Cement Factory

Schedule: Full time

Job Summary. 

Junior Geologist will contribute to the planning and execution of the exploration program as well as the development of the geological and mining department at Horn Cement Factory.

Key duties and Responsibilities

• ·                   Review the literature and identify the targets for geological surveys
• ·                   Plan and conduct geological field works and collect data
• ·                   Using GPS and geological compass for point demarcation and structural readings
• ·                   Search and identify different rock types use in cement manufacturing
• ·                   Prepare geological maps, charts and cross sections using various software’s
• ·                   Compile all the data and prepare standard geological reports in a computer
• ·                   Assist drilling and logging operations
• ·                   Analyze and interpret the laboratory geochemical reports
• ·                   Assist geology and mining operations crew
• ·                   Report all the geological activities to the Team Leader
• ·                   Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards

• ·         Minimum bachelor’s degree in geology
• ·         0 - 2 years’ experience in mineral exploration projects
• ·         Knowledge of local geology of Somaliland
• ·         Basic knowledge of general rock types and its identification
• ·         Knowledge of geological mapping and modelling softwares
• ·         Physically fit to climb mountains and stay for long hours in the Mines 
• ·         Fluent in English & Somali to well-coordinate between locals and expats
• ·         Understanding of the mining rules and regulations of Somaliland
