II. Organization and Position Overview
Welthungerhilfe is a German-based international non-profit humanitarian and
development organization. The ultimate vision of Welthungerhilfe is to see a world without
hunger and poverty. WHH has been working in four regions of Somaliland (Awdal,
Maroodi-jex, Sahil and Toghdeer and Sanaag) since 2001 with multisector interventions.
It secures funding mainly from German Government cooperation (BMZ, AA and WFP)
and private donors of Germany for its interventions in Somaliland.
Duties and Areas of Responsibility
1. Take planning, designing and implementation roles for nutrition, sanitation &
hygiene component of the project.
2. Participate design appropriate nutrition, hygiene and sanitation promotion
tools and approaches for the project.
3. Participate technical implementation of relevant promotion methods and tools
in the project areas.
4. Work for behavior changes and practical achievements at household level
5. Partake technical input in designing integrated WASH and nutrition training
manuals and guidance.
6. Provide technical support and guidance to community promoters working at
community level.
7. Develop standard training manuals on nutrition, hygiene and sanitation sector
8. Conduct training and other capacity building activities related to NHS.
9. Coordinate the provision of relevant trainings to target households.
10. Establish WASH and nutrition demonstration sites at selected sites in the
project area
11. Manage the functionality of nutrition and WASH demonstration sites as per
anticipated project objective.
12. Ensure to have all project activities been made nutrition and gender sensitive.
13. Participate and sufficiently contributes during design of planning, monitoring
and evaluation systems + other assessments are developed properly in terms
of inclusion of soft components.
14. Participate in stakeholders’ forums related to nutrition hygiene and sanitation.
15. Provide evidence based and innovative approaches to help improve project
implementation and achieve enhanced food and nutrition security at
household level.
16. Representing Welthungerhilfe in nutrition hygiene and sanitation Cluster
sector meetings
17. Perform any other duties assigned.
Skills and qualifications
III. Requirement
Education and Experience
1. Minimum graduate degree in Nutrition, Public health or a relevant field.
2. Five years’ practical experience in planning and implementation of practicing
nutrition hygiene and sanitation interventions
3. Experience in disaster management system
4. Practical knowledge in participatory watershed planning and implementation
5. Demonstrated experience in implementation of Nutrition hygiene and
sanitation development activities
6. Good experience in community mobilization
7. Report writing and data management skills.
IV. Language Requirement
Proficiency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali is a
requirement.
