Position: Protection Assistant
Responsible to: Project Officer
Location: Burao (with regular field trips)
Duration of contract: 12 months (with possibility of extension)
Closing date: 23th June 2022
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POSITION
ROLE OF THE EMPLOYEE
Position will be based in Burao, under the direct line-management of Project Manager and functional management of Protection Officer. She/he will be responsible to:
ACTIVITY IMPLEMENTATION (90%)
- Work as mobile/outreach protection team to identify, register and analyze the protection concern, risk and specific needs of project targeted beneficiaries (such as persons with disabilities, persons with psychosocial distress, elderly people etc)
- According to the needs identified; prepare the list of persons for internal and external referral.
- Carryout protection mainstreaming activities in IDPs site as well as host community and report protection issue to the Project Protection Officers.
- Identification of extremely vulnerable cases (CP, GBV, Persons with disabilities etc), prepare list and make appropriate referral through Project Protection Officers.
- Together with Psychosocial Assistant; Work with women, girls and children in the community committees Space to identify their needs, interests and priorities, and where possible, adapt activities according to these to ensure activities offered are culturally appropriate and meet the needs of women, girls and children. Take a lead in the direct implementation of the activities in the community committees space and community feedback meetings
- Prepare the referral list of all identified cases on psychosocial and mental health issue and shared with Project Psychologist on timely manner.
- Carryout community sensitization and awareness raising events on various protection concern of persons with specific needs, their rights, community protection mitigation measures through organization of community consultation meeting and Community Sensitization etc
- Develop a community approach to ensure a confidence in HI process and project.
ACTIVITY FOLLOW UP AND REPORTING (10%)
- Ensure a qualitative follow up of the beneficiaries and document the follow up according to the monitoring plan
- Ensure a daily quantitative and qualitative reporting through the tools (assessment form, follow up form, discharger and monitoring form, donation certificate, groups report) and system in place.
- Organization of the weekly plan within the Mobile Psychosocial and protection team, with the support of Project Psychologist and Protection Officers
- Any other reports to be made upon line manager request.

- Respect beneficiary confidentiality and accountability.
- Treat them with respect and dignities.
- Respect, promote and implement all HI’s Safe Guarding Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of HI’s policies amongst the teams or partners.
- Address needs and requests in a professional way.
- Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others.
- Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers.
- Always respect a refusal of treatment
Conditions
- Status: Service contract with salary according to experience
- Start: July 2022
- Duration: 1 year (possible extension)
