  1. BACKGROUND

 

NAGAAD Women’s Network is a voluntary network bringing together 45 women’s organizations in Somaliland. Founded in 1997, it was formed to serve as a collective voice for women and children wishing to see their rights as equal citizens respected in Somaliland. Its activities focus on women’s and girl’s education, economic empowerment, participation in decision-making, reproductive rights, and well-being, through advocacy, networking, capacity building, training, and research.

  1. Project Description

This project is in collaboration with NAGAAD Network and The United Nations Fund for Population Activities-UNFPA project named, enhancing Access to WGSS specialized services and prevention information in drought-impacted locations in Somaliland.

The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the human rights protection of IDPs and save the lives of drought-affected communities through improved access to Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Gender Based Violence (WGSS) services.

  1. The Role of View.

Under the direct supervision of the Women and girls safe space manager, as a beatification teacher you will be responsible for performing the following major and specific responsibilities: -

Major Objective:

Nagaad is seeking a teacher to ensure that the henna & beatification course contents are delivered according to the project plan.

Specific tasks:

  • Organize highly interactive training sessions to equip students with key knowledge, and skills on Henna and Beautification including hair styling skills
  • Prepare all the necessary materials for skills training sessions in a professional manner, by reviewing the course content and delivery methods on a regular basis such as lesson plans and their sequences,
  • Trainees progress records, lesson practice and trainees’ examinations records etc
  • Provide adequate practical sessions and skills on Henna and Beatification to the trainees in line with the provision of the course syllabus.
  • Ensure adherence to the teaching course content and syllabus.
  • Undertake daily attendance of the trainees.
  • Teach how to perform routine salon functions and sanitation producers.
  • Teach different hairstyles, identify different types of skins and their facials on how to apply makeup on different types of skins.
  • Teach how to operate and handle equipment according to professional standards.
  • Teach safety precautions including safety practices and demonstrate good grooming principles
  • Keep up to date with subject knowledge and other issues relevant to the area of work.
  • Advise students on progression routes to other courses etc.
  • Provide guidance on how to use different personal protective equipment and how to handle them and store them appropriately
  • The trainer to encourage trainees on how to practice lessons learnt on their own to practice more

 

Skills and qualifications

Expected background and experience:

The assignment requires the following qualifications and experiences from the Trainer:

  • A Diploma/advanced certificate of Henna and Beautification including makeup and hairstyling or equivalent or a combination of relevant experiences and related Knowledge based life skills with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Proficient communication skills
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize and deliver theory and practical sessions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Reporting:

  • Report to Women and girls safe space manager on a regular basis to make sure the activities are well implemented and standards are met.
