General Organizational Introduction.
PASOS is national non-governmental, non for profit making organization, base in Somalia to reduce the hunger and fight the poverty of underprivilege communities in Somalia.
PASOS focus on developmental, resilience project while in crisis take an action to minimize and increase lifesaving support. PASOS geographical implement in Somalia, Southwest State, Jubbaland State and Galmudug state.
Organizational Specific Objectives
· Alleviate poverty by improving economic status of vulnerable communities through enhanced food production by providing farm implements and inputs and diversification of income generating activities
· enhance emergency response and livelihood crisis intervention through provision of Food/Cash/Non-food items Relief kits delivery, Livestock take-off /re-stocking, Water trucking to pastoralists and provision of temporary shelters.
· Improve access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) conditions of the poor communities through construction and/or rehabilitation of water catchment dams, installing water tanks and construction of underground water tanks, provision of sanitation facilities and hygiene awareness training and promotion hygiene education.
· Improve access to education by children and youth through provision of facilities, teaching and learning
materials.
· Eradicate harmful cultural practices like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and early marriages.
· Increase opportunities for youth and Adult to further their education through distance learning.
· Improve health status of communities through health education; environmental cleanliness, hygiene promotion and increasing access to primary health and child care centers in area of operation.
· Enhance environmental education, awareness and participation in environmental protection and conservation activities by the communities
· Promote peaceful co-existence and proactively resolve conflicts
· Empower the youth to contribute to the social, economic and political development of their community
· Create awareness of issues surrounding children in difficult circumstances with particular regard to child abuse and neglect livelihood.
Position Summary
The Project Officers will be responsible for the effective and efficient field implementation in accordance with the organizational policies and the donor while consider the vulnerable groups in the target project area.
Position Determination
· Responsible day to day activities while using proficiency and knowledge
· Have the capabilities to run and coordinate the activities in accordance the project guideline and plans.
Specific Job Responsibilities
· Oversee the implementation of field project activities in Burhakaba to ensure the project is completed in a timely and accountable manner
· Closely work with the other staffs in Burhakaba on how to develop work environment and team task implementers
· Ensure that PASOS actions are ethnically fair and proportionate.
· Coordinate with the field team in Burhakaba and the AME department to prepare and implement project monitoring and evaluation plans.
· Set up, plan, supervise and monitor the project at the field level to ensure the successful implementation of all project’s activities, the generation of planned outputs and attainment of key project objectives.
· To ensure all activities undertaken are appropriately documented with all required level of documentations· Write monthly reports as well as weekly updates and share with program manager, program director and coordinator
· regular project site visits to ensure all activities implemented accordantly
· Train VRCs, CMs, and other PASOS staffs in the area.
· Provide strategic advice and guidance to program management team in relation to livelihood programming aspects
· Ensure all the beneficiaries received their monthly payment, through direct field visit and VRC communication
· Ensure implementing project documentation are prepared to the highest level
· Prepare Success histories with all legal documentation and share with the lead agency
· Participate the regular assessment of the district of operation
· Other more duties will be undertaken during the operations
Skills and qualifications
1st University degree in Project management, Social sciences, Economics/ any other relevant field, or equivalent experience.
· 2-3 or more years’ experience of data collection, collation, analysis, and report writing.
· Strong organizational and analytical skills and ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision.
· Strong interpersonal and community mobilization skills.
· Highly skilled in technical problem solved and excellent and patient
· Highly motivated, and flexible.
· Should work in burhakaba as base office and the person should be locally accepted.
· Multi-cultural, can work with team with different interpersonal character, good character and respective
· Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Somali.
· Excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel an and other statistical packages (SPSS, EPI info)
· Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
