Position: NUTRITION NURSES

Location: Burhakaba District

NUTRITION NURSES – 2 POSITION

WHAT PASOS?      

PASOS is national non-governmental, non for profit making organization, base in Somalia to reduce the hunger and fight the poverty of underprivilege communities in Somalia. PASOS focus on developmental, resilience project while in crisis take an action to minimize and increase lifesaving support. PASOS geographical implement in Somalia is Southwest State, Jubbaland State and Galmudug state

Reasons for the position

To make sure the people we are serving to obtain best professional practice in the sector of Nutrition implementations while considering the target groups of beneficiaries to get professional practice with professional specialist beneficiaries.

CORE AND KEY DUTIES – RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strictly follow IMAM guidelines
  • Ensure that each beneficiary receives a routine medical examination
  • Ensure that each beneficiary receives the routine medication
  • Ensure that any beneficiary requiring further medical assistance is referred to the nearest medical Centre in accordance with protocols
  • Record all symptoms of beneficiaries and medication given and complete the child’s card at every visit
  • To keep up to date record of all medication used and be responsible for stock management and reporting (distribution monitoring, use of non-expired drugs, stock ordering etc.).
  • Ensure that local customs relating to privacy are adhered to
  • Handle the beneficiaries in a sensitive and reassuring manner
  • Ensure that the sites are left in a clean manner
  • Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and cleaned after the distribution, ready for the next distribution
  • Report any problems or broken equipment to the Nutrition Officer immediatel
  • Prepare any necessary reports as requested by the Nutrition Officer
  • Attend training as requested
  • Attend team meetings on a regular basis
  • Ensure that mothers respect basic hygiene principles
  • Ensure that waste (medical and non medical) is appropriately disposed of
  • Responsible for ensuring water availability for hands / body and clothes washing
  • Respect secure storage for medication and food and proper record keepinG
  • To ensure caretakers receive basic health education in feeding, hygiene and health
  • Ensure adherence to protocols (including admission and exit criteria, anthropometry, medical and therapeutic feeding treatment), individual patient record management, care and support of the caretakers, psychosocial care of the beneficiary, care of infants <6 months, health and nutrition education, record keeping
  • Supervise two nutrition workers and one Community Mobiliser in the area
  • Undertake other tasks as requested by the Nutrition Officer

Skills and qualifications

  • Qualified nurse
  • Nutrition programme, primary health care or community health experience
  • Proven capacity in management and teamwork
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathize with all beneficiaries and their careers
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
  • Demonstrable ability to write reports
  • Prepared to live and work in an uncertain security environment
  • Previous experience of work with humanitarian agencies
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
