SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organization to which all SOS Children’s Villages including SOS Children’s Villages Somalia Association is affiliated. SOS Children’s Villages Somalia has officially been working in Somalia since 1985. SOS is currently working in 134 countries worldwide. We are committed to the welfare of children – often throughout the whole of their childhood, and to strengthening families and communities as a preventive measure in the fight against abandonment and social neglect. We also run education and health facilities. With the SOS Children’s Village concept, the organization pioneered a family approach to the long-term care of orphaned and abandoned children. SOS Children’s Villages Somalia current works in three regions; Banadir Regions (Heliwa, Wadajir, Dharkenley and Dayninle districts) southwest-state (Baidoa, BurHakaba, Berdale,Qasaxdhere and Hudur) Hirshabelle State (Jowhar,Adale & Balcad)

Position title: Screener (1 pst)

Reporting to: Nutrition Supervisor

Location: Diinsor -Bay-SWs -Somalia

Job summary:

The Screener is expected to provide a high standard of promoting optimum health and preventive health care, thereby contributing to a safe, efficient and effective service to patients.

Job Responsibilities:

Main duties and Responsibilities:

       The screener will conduct screening and measuring the anthropometric measurements MUAC, weight, high and so on from the under 5 children and Pregnant and lactating women (PLW).

       The screener will document anthropometric measurement information of every patient according to the IMAM protocol.

       The screener will properly keep recording the screening tally sheets, screening registers and verify their age of children before they are screened.

       Screener will Additionally provide on job training to the Nutrition volunteers and mother led MUAC teams selected from the community.

       S/he will be tasked to directly collaborate with the OTP and TSFP nurses to ensure that information is shared between them in close bonds.

       To support the process of information sharing with the beneficiaries during the service waiting time.

       Support in controlling the crowd of beneficiaries in the waiting areas of the nutrition facilities.

       The Nutrition Screener is required to possess significant experience and capabilities in the field-based operations of the screener and good knowledge of patient information management in technical field of OTP and TSFP.

       The nutrition screener is expected to have competencies of a skillful leader in guiding and supporting and controlling beneficiaries, addressing various conflicts and challenges in between them.

       The screener will control the safety of the organizational assets/properties including the measurement tools, table, chairs, and etc.

       Undertake any other responsibilities/duties that you may be reasonably expected by your line supervisors.

Skills and qualifications

Job competencies:

Essential

       Nutrition training certificate or related field and Secondary certificate

       Minimum 2 years of progressive professional experience in doing of OTP screening, or had work with Nutrition Partner for nutrition Projects

       Excellent command in Somali and English languages

       Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

       Ward management skills

       Proactive, result oriented, independent, able to identify and carry out duties with minimum supervision
