JOB TITLE: BSA Programme Assistant
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Service Contract, SC4

DUTY STATION (City, Country): Djibouti City
DURATION: 6 months, with a possibility of renewable upon performance and availability of funds.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. WFP Djibouti works in partnership with the Government and other stakeholders through the implementation of integrated programmes targeting the most vulnerable people and it works towards building national capacity to formulate, manage and implement programmes for achieving zero hunger. In implementing its activities, WFP bridges the humanitarian–development nexus and leverage its extensive experience and the contributions it has made in Djibouti over many decades to achieve three strategic outcomes outlined in the WFP Country Strategic Plan. To achieve result on the activities, programme unit needs to hire a BSA programme assistant SC4 to support in the implementation of activities in five regions of Djibouti and Djibouti town as well. This position will be based at country office with support to perform on field visits.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision Head of programmes, the incumbent will coordinate and perform on support to all programme activities to provide quality, accurate data and reports to support the effective delivery of these activities at community and region level. In addition, the incumbent is expected to deliver organized and accurate work, performing specific business support tasks.
Detailed responsibilities:
1. Perform specialized and/or standardised processes and activities within the specific technical area of work (Djibouti toun, Arta, Ai-sabieh, Dikhil, Tadjourah and Obock) supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
2. Provide project management and/or general office support following established targets and WFP’s policies and procedures.
3. Compile data and support analysis and preparation of reports (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, programme status, performance) in order to support operational decision-making.
4. Provide business support services to Programme operations by accurately processing and recording information and transactions in corporate systems (WINGS, COMET, ITS, WeTravel and other WFP platforms). Responsibilities include the preparation of Travel Authorizations (TAs), initiation and follow-up of administrative and financial actions, submission and tracking of service requests, data entry and management, records maintenance, and quality assurance of information, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, procedures and service
delivery standards.
Skills and qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
Education : Secondary school qualification plus a post-secondary school certificate related to the functional area
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience
Knowledge & Skills:
− Has a proactive attitude, an ability to plan work and prioritise competing activities and ensure their completion.
− Has worked with technical teams (i.e. programme, nutrition, etc.) to
implement development or humanitarian projects or programmes.
− Has experience in liaison with government authorities for programme
implementation.− Has strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal patiently and tactfully with people of different national and cultural backgrounds and to manage external partnerships.
Languages: Fluency (level C) in French language. Knowledge of English is an added advantage.
