GUESTHOUSE AND OFFICE/FACILITY MANAGER- SOMALI NATIONAL ONLY
Position Title: Facility Manager
Duty Station: Dolow, Somalia
Duration: 12 months (with possibility of renewal, subject to performance)
Reporting To: Head of Administration

1. Background
We are managing a guesthouse and office compound in Dolow, Somalia which provides accommodation and support services to staff and visitors. To ensure high-quality service delivery and efficient facility management—including catering, cleaning, laundry, gardening, and general maintenance—we require the services of an experienced and qualified Facility Manager.
2. Purpose of the Role
The Facility Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination, supervision, and quality assurance of all facility-related services within the office and guesthouse compound. The incumbent will ensure that services are provided effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with the standards of safety, hygiene, and service excellence.
3. Key Responsibilities A. Catering Services Supervision
· Ensure the timely preparation and hygienic serving of meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) for staff and guests.
· Coordinate closely with the Chef to uphold strict hygiene and food safety standards in the kitchen, dining, and cafeteria areas.
· Monitor food stock levels, approve procurement requests, and ensure timely replenishment of supplies.
B. Cleaning and Laundry Services
· Oversee daily cleaning of guesthouse common areas (living room, dining, cafeteria, toilets) at least three times per day.
· Supervise laundry services, ensuring timely and high-quality washing, drying, and ironing of both guesthouse and personal items.
· Review and approve weekly lists of cleaning materials and monitor supply usage.
C. Gardening
· Supervise daily sweeping of the compound and external surroundings.
· Oversee planting, watering, pruning, weeding, and fertilizing of lawns and flowerbeds to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
· Monitor perimeter fence upkeep, waste management, and disposal practices, ensuring compliance with the environmental and safety standards.
D. General Maintenance and Repairs
· Ensure prompt resolution of minor technical issues, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and tiling.
· Supervise the maintenance and servicing of generators, water systems, satellite TV, and other infrastructure.
· Maintain a detailed logbook of repair and maintenance activities (completed, ongoing, and scheduled).
E. Staff Supervision & Coordination
· Provide direct supervision of all service staff (cooks, cleaners, gardeners, technicians, etc.), ensuring tasks are carried out to the required standards.
· Prepare and manage work rosters, shifts, and task allocations.
· Conduct regular performance appraisals and provide on-the-job training to staff.
· Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
F. Quality Assurance and Reporting
· Carry out routine facility inspections and prepare weekly reports on the condition of the compound, services, and staff performance.
· Monitor compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and operational protocols.
· Report urgent maintenance and operational concerns promptly to the Management and recommend corrective actions.
Skills and qualifications
1. Qualifications and Experience Nationality:
· This position is open to Somali nationals only
Education:
· Master/Bachelor degree in Facility Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, Social Work, Engineering or a related field.d
Experience:
· At least 5 years of progressive experience in office and guesthouse operations, preferably in an international or humanitarian organizational setting.
· Strong record of managing catering, cleaning, and maintenance operations to international standards.
· Demonstrated experience in supervising multi-disciplinary teams and service providers.
Skills and Competencies:
· Fluency in English and Somali (both oral and written) is required.
· Team-working
· The ability to lead and manage teams and projects
· Customer service
· Hands-on experience in staff supervision
· Practical knowledge of facility management
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic IT systems.
· Excellent communication and reporting skills.
· Fluency in English and Somali (both oral and written) is required.
2. Working Conditions
· The Facility Manager will be based full-time in Dolow.
· The role requires flexibility to work beyond regular office hours, including weekends, to address emergencies or supervise service shifts as required.
