About the Job

 

The Head of Antenna manages the Galkayo office and its operations in accordance with the with the strategies, objectives, programs and action under the guidance of the Head of Office in consultation with the Head of Sub Delegation.

 

This is a national/resident position based in Galkayo, Somalia.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

       In collaboration with Head of Office develops and maintains an extended network of contacts with and represents the ICRC towards a wide range of interlocutors, local/regional authorities and humanitarian organizations

 

       Contributes to the analysis of the humanitarian, political and security environment to identify humanitarian needs in the area of responsibility

 

       Provides analysis of the security environment related risks, proposes appropriate security measures, and supervises their implementation

 

       Regularly reviews the security situation in the area of responsibility based on his/her own analysis and input from stakeholders within the region

 

       Ensures that security rules and procedures are adhered to by incoming visitors and all employees within the antenna

 

       Monitors the Administrative and Financial aspects within the Antenna and ensures adherence to the ICRC guidelines

 

       Collaborates with Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) branch and Sub-branches for implementation of activities

 

       Manages, supervises, and coaches the staff under her/his direct supervision

 

       Ensures regular and accurate internal reporting

Skills and qualifications

Minimum qualifications and required competencies

 

       Bachelor`s Degree in Business Administration, Community Development or equivalent qualification in a related field of study

 

       5 years working experience in a management position within a humanitarian environment

 

       Comprehensive knowledge of and exposure to a wide range of humanitarian assistance, emergency relief and related protection issues

 

       Knowledge of Red Crescent or National Society operations is an asset

 

       Demonstrated management and negotiation skills in a complex setting

 

       Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills

 

       Proven Leadership and team motivation skills

 

       Excellent knowledge of political, social, economic and cultural aspects in Somalia

 

       Fluency in written and spoken English and Somali language

 

       Computer proficiency especially in MS Office suite
