Background
Nugal Water Company (NUWACO) is a leading provider of water services in the nugal region, committed to delivering high-quality water supply and sustainable water management solutions. We are looking to recruit a skilled Water Resource Engineer to join our team. The post-holder will be responsible designing, development, and maintenance of water infrastructure, such as water supply systems, wastewater treatment, and distribution networks.

Key Responsibilities:
- Designing, development, and maintenance of water infrastructure, such as water supply systems, wastewater treatment, and distribution networks.
- Conduct thorough analysis of water supply systems, including source identification, water quality assessment, and demand forecasting.
- Design and develop efficient water treatment processes, considering factors such as sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, and chemical dosing.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan, design, and implement water distribution systems, ensuring optimal hydraulic performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Perform hydraulic modeling and simulations to evaluate system performance and identify potential improvements.
- Conduct field investigations and collect data for water infrastructure projects, including site surveys, water sampling, and monitoring.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports for water projects.
- Evaluate and select appropriate water infrastructure materials, equipment, and technologies.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental standards throughout all project stages.
- Collaborate with government agencies, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in water engineering practices and contribute to ongoing professional development.
- Designing and maintaining water treatment plants, pipelines, and reservoirs.
- Managing water resources to ensure sustainable supply and quality for communities
- Overseeing the construction and operation of hydraulic structures such as boreholes, dams, canals etc
- Assessing water availability, developing water supply and distribution systems
- designing water treatment and wastewater management facilities
- Developing strategies for water conservation and efficient use.
- Upgrading urban water distribution networks
- Employs CAD software, hydraulic modeling tools, and SCADA systems for design and monitoring.
- Ensure the good quality of water structures under construction to ensure the usage of quality construction materials such as cement, ballast sand pipes, fittings, solar panels, and pumps
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, officers, local government and communities to develop integrated water management plans.
- Conduct technical assessments for new boreholes, dams and develop drawings and detailed Bill of quantities (BOQs).
- Compile a progress report and provide briefings on a daily basis on progress made, using material with photos as evidence.
Skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in water engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in water resources management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of water resource cycle, and watershed management.
- Proficiency in water resource modeling software (e.g., HEC-HMS, SWAT, MODFLOW) and GIS applications.
- Experience with data collection and analysis related to water resources including fieldwork.
- Knowledge of water resource policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-specialists.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel within the Nugal region as required.
