Job Title : SPECIALIZED TECHNICIAN
Work Location : GURIEL_SOMALIA
Start date : AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Length of contract : Fixed term (1year) 100% with 3 to 6 months’ probation period.
Main Purpose
Performing autonomously, specific complex / advanced installation, maintenance works and
repairs depending on technician’s specialization (requiring special/qualifications/training),
according to supervisor’s instructions and MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure a
proper functioning and maintenance of MSF equipment, installations and infrastructures
Accountabilities
• Performing autonomously, all necessary complex / advanced installations, maintenance and
repairs (i.e. requiring special qualifications/training), according to the supervisor’s instructions and
executes any needed tests after any repair or maintenance. Including the following functions:
• Qualified Electrician
• Qualified Mechanic
• Biomed Technician
• Making suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF electrical
installations, equipment and/or vehicles and assisting logistics department for any relative work
needed.
• Managing the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock
inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage.
• Responsible for the equipment and tools, including extinguishers, checking they are correctly and
safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.
• Keeping working area clean and tidy.
• Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to logistical maintenance are always completed.
Preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
• Immediately informing the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work,
particularly with regard to damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins
• Working in collaboration with other specialised technicians and workers, if necessary, or managing
a small team of workers.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
Electrical Systems and Wiring
Carry out electrical installations, wiring, repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
Inspect electrical systems, distribution boards, lighting, sockets, and other electrical equipment.
Identify electrical faults and ensure timely corrective action.
Ensure electrical installations are carried out safely and according to applicable standards.Inventory
Management.
EXTERNAL VACANCY
Biomedical Equipment maintenance and installation
Carry out basic installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of biomedical
equipments in the hospital.
Monitor the condition and functionality of biomedical equipments and report technical faults.
Coordinate with the medical team when specialized repairs are required.
Maintain records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
Generator Maintenance and Fuel Management
Carry out routine inspection and preventive maintenance of generators.
Monitor generator performance and identify technical faults requiring repair.
Follow up on generator servicing, repairs, and replacement of spare parts.
Monitor and record generator fuel consumption and operating hours.
Report abnormal fuel consumption or generator performance issues.
Air-Conditioning units repiar and maintenance
Carry out installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and basic repair of air-conditioning units.
Monitor the performance and condition of AC units and identify faults.
Ensure AC units are properly maintained, cleaned, and operating efficiently.
Asset and Inventory Management
Maintain accurate records and inventory of technical equipment, tools, and spare parts.
Monitor the condition and availability of assets and promptly report any loss, damage, or
malfunction.
Ensure proper storage and use of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
Support regular physical inventory checks and update maintenance records.
General Maintenance and Technical Support
Conduct regular inspections of technical installations and identify maintenance needs.
Respond promptly to technical breakdowns and carry out necessary repairs.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment condition.
Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely and in accordance with organizational
procedures.
Safety and Compliance
Follow MSF safety protocols and procedures at all times.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.

Skills and qualifications
Requirements
Education Essential: 3 years diploma in related technical field. Bachelor degree
in relevant studies is desirable.
Experience Essential : previous working experience of at least two years in relevant
jobs with INGOs
Desirable experience in MSF.
