Mechanical Technician – Diesel Engines

1. Background
Daldhis Power Solutions, a Member of Daldhis Group of companies, is seeking a
qualified and experienced Mechanical Technician to support its operations in the
maintenance, troubleshooting, Midlife repair and Major Overhaul or engine rebuilding.
The ideal candidate must have strong expertise in handling major diesel generator brands
and having enough knowledge in various types of control systems and electronic engine
modules (ECM).
➢ Position: Mechanical Technician – Diesel Engines
➢ Number of Positions: One
➢ Report to: Technical Manager / Operations Manager
➢ Duty Station: Hargaisa- with regions travel regularly.
➢ Salary: as per Company salary Policy plus packages refer section 6 below
➢ Starting date: ASAP
➢ Probation period: 3-6 Months
2. Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities
• Perform diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel engines.
• Carry out engine overhauling, rebuilding, and major mechanical repairs.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel generator engines.
• Work on major engine brands including Cummins, Caterpillar (CAT), Perkins,
IVECO, MAN, and other equivalent brands.
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic faults using OEM diagnostic tools and software.
• Strip, inspect, measure, and assemble engine components.
• Interpret engine manuals, service bulletins, and technical drawings.
• Ensure engines operate within OEM performance standards.
• Coordinate with electrical technicians during integrated troubleshooting.
• Prepare service reports and maintenance records.
• Comply with safety procedures and OEM standards.

3. Required Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years proven experience in diesel engine repair and overhaul.
• Strong hands-on experience with generator and industrial diesel engines.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
4. Required Engine Software Knowledge
• Cummins InSite – for Cummins engines.
• CAT ET (Electronic Technician) – for Caterpillar engines.
• Perkins EST (Electronic Service Tool) – for Perkins engines.
• IVECO EASY / IVECO Diagnostic tools.
• MAN Cats / MAN Diagnostic software.
• Ability to read fault codes, live data, and perform basic calibrations.
5. Core Competencies & Skills
• Strong mechanical diagnostic and analytical skills.
• In-depth knowledge of diesel combustion and fuel systems.
• Experience with mechanical and electronic engines.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• High attention to safety and workmanship quality.
• Good at Computer Application and report crafting.
