About the Job

The Security Guards Team Leader coordinates, manages, and supervises a team of guards responsible for the security and safety of ICRC premises in Hargeisa. The Team Leader ensures the team performs their roles correctly, reports on time, and remains vigilant during their shifts. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with security rules, maintaining security equipment, providing training on security guidelines, organizing shifts and rosters, and managing absences and replacements.

This is a national/resident position based in Hargeisa.

Duties and Responsibilities

       Coordinates, manages and supervises a team of guards responsible for security in ICRC premises in Hargeisa. As a member of the team, works as a guard when required.

 

       Ensures that the guards under responsibility do their work properly, report on time, do not leave their posts before their shift is over.

 

       Ensures that the guards respect the premises' security rules.

 

       Makes sure that security-related equipment is kept in good working order.

 

       Provides guidance and training on security guidelines.

 

       Organizes and supervises shifts, duty rosters and holiday replacements; registers staff absences and finds substitutes whenever needed.

 

       Performs regular checks of the premises/compound (including fire extinguishers, windows, doors, lights and piping) to prevent incidents.

 

       Conducts regular patrols of ICRC premises to deter and detect unauthorized access or suspicious activity.

 

       Monitors surveillance cameras and alarm systems to identify potential security breaches.

 

       Responds promptly to security incidents, emergencies, or alarms, and take appropriate action as per ICRC security procedures.

 

       Maintains accurate records of security-related incidents, observations, and activities in logbooks or electronic systems.

 

       Assists in the implementation of security measures, including the installation and maintenance of security equipment.

 

       Participates in security briefings, training sessions, and drills to enhance preparedness and response.

Skills and qualifications

Minimum qualifications and required competencies

       Primary school education.

 

       Knowledge of security equipment.

 

       At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position

 

       Highly organized and practices strict adherence to rules and protocols

 

       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

 

       Good command of English and Somali language

 

       Good knowledge of the social, economic and political affairs of the assigned region

 

       Possessing a strong degree of honesty and integrity, and a solid sense of ethics including the ability to appropriately handle confidential information
