The Institute for Practical Research and Training (IPRT) was established in 1998 with a steadfast mission to promote healthcare, youth employment, human rights, good governance, and climate change awareness. Through practical research, training initiatives, and community engagement, IPRT strives to enhance access to quality healthcare, empower youth with employment opportunities, advocate for human rights, strengthen governance practices, and address the challenges of climate change. Position: Project Finance Officer

Location: Hargeisa

Employment Type: Part-time

Contract Duration: 1 year

 

Core Duties/Responsibilities

As a Project Finance Officer, your primary role will be to manage and oversee the financial aspects of projects, ensuring their smooth operation. Your responsibilities will include:

 

·         Managing and overseeing project budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.

·         Ensuring compliance with financial policies, procedures, and guidelines.

·         Monitoring project expenditures, analyzing variances, and providing recommendations for cost control.

·         Preparing financial statements, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

·         Collaborating with project teams to develop project budgets and financial plans.

·         Conducting financial analysis and providing insights to support decision-making processes.

·         Assisting in grant proposal development, including budget preparation and financial narratives.

·         Maintaining accurate project financial records and documentation.

·         Staying updated with relevant financial regulations and best practices.

Skills and qualifications

Do you meet the minimum requirements?

·         Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

·         Proven experience of at least one year in NGO finance, financial management, or related roles.

·         Strong knowledge of financial principles, budgeting, and financial analysis, specifically within the context of non-governmental organizations.

·         Proficiency in financial software and tools commonly used in the NGO sector.

·         Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of effectively managing financial resources in an NGO setting.

·         Attention to detail and ability to work with complex financial data, including understanding and analyzing project budgets and financial reports.

·         Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders in an NGO environment.

·         Fluent in both written and verbal Somali and English.

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced NGO setting.
