Brief Introduction

The goal of GIZ is to support the capacity development of people, organizations and institutional structures in the partner countries to enable them better their living conditions through their own efforts.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is implementing various projects in Somalia, across multiple sectors and regions. One of the projects is the ‘Rehabilitation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Somalia (TVET II)’ project focuses on strengthening the public vocational education and training system in terms of its governance, quality of training, and access for learners.

TVET Project is seeking to recruit a Junior Vocational Training and Labour Market Advisor. The Junior advisor will be working with and reporting to the project technical Team in Hargeisa.

Responsibilities

   support the planning, steering, and implementation of project activities in primarily relation to Output 1 (Improving Governance), while also and contributing to Output 2 (Improving Quality) and Output 3 (Improving Access).

 

   Contribute technical expertise within the area of work (improving the governance of vocational education and training).

 

   support the development and implementation of advisory services for implementation partners in collaboration with project colleagues and particularly the component leader.

 

   Prepare the design and support quality assurance of the procurement and assignment of external consultancy services and procurement of goods within the area of work

     Prepare and support the implementation of workshops and events

 

    Clearly communicate the relevant requirements, conditions and restrictions in terms of your capacity to act with due regard for compliance rules.

 

   Deal with the matters and job orders assigned to you with due regard for all the legal, contractual, socio-political and corporate policy requirements and the instructions of the line manager and follow up the processing and completion of the tasks assigned.

   Provide support for knowledge management and ongoing process development and prepare documentation.

Other duties/additional Tasks

       Perform other duties and tasks at the request of the Head of the Project and the Project Component Leader.

Skills and qualifications

   Bachelor's in Education, Business Administration or relevant subject.

 

   Experience of advisory services and/or activities in the education and training sector, particularly measures to improve the governance of vocational education and training is needed

 

   Experience of working in project(s) with stakeholder-led approaches and community co-creation

 

   Knowledge of international development cooperation and the ILO Decent Work Agenda is an advantage

 

     Experience of working in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams

 

     Fluency of English language

 

    Willingness to travel frequently to project sites and work in challenging environments.

     Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

 

     Ability to work in a team and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

 

     Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

 

    Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed and work full time (40 hours per week)
