Job description

The General Manager will be responsible to build and lead our company’s growth and business strategies. Take day to day decision on strategic matters after input from Board, top management at the Dahabshiil. The General Manager will reporting to the Executive Vice Chairman and  responsible for managing end to end strategic business plan, budget, rolling forecast, month end analysis, commercial approval, financial integrity of accruals, provision, and categorization of expenses in related to the commercial activities and growth of business in the region.

Roles and responsibility:

  1. Drive strategic initiatives to achieve company vision and business objectives and facilitate cascading and alignment of the strategic objectives across all functions;
  2. Lead the negotiations when sourcing for products from the manufacturers and ensure proper pricing negotiations when products are offered to local clients
  • Lead the development of an effective and efficient executive management at Dahabshiil Motors, by providing best-in-class corporate management to the headquarters and the regions, adhering to international standards, documented policies, processes and procedures and aiming at meeting the KPI targets.
  1. Drive performance of the company and support Dahabshiil Motors board in monitoring short- and long-term performance.
  2. Maintain excellent investor standing at all times across and maintain the confidence of the investment community, investors and other stakeholders
  3. Determine monthly and yearly forecasts in terms of unit sales, gross profit objectives, and departmental profits.
  • identify business opportunities for the branch within the region to increase the market share for all the brands assigned;
  • Monitor compliance with statutory and manufacturers requirements with the support of the respective brands, to ensure minimal risk exposure;
  1. Network with key stakeholders within the community to promote branches services and identify business opportunities;
  2. Promote customer satisfaction through timely resolution of all customer complaints at the branch;
  3. In collaboration with Training and development team ensure the company has the required competencies at all levels to ensure the provision of quality services in parts, sales, and service;
  • Coordinate general administration of the branch to ensure that branch facilities and resources are safe and secure in line with the boards’ guidelines;
  • Coordinate the collection of information at the branch level on competitor activities to ensure the availability of information required to develop market penetration strategies on parts, sales and service for all the brands assigned;
  • In consultation with the various assigned brands, develop branch targets for parts, sales and service for all the brands assigned, to support the achievement of the overall business targets on the 3Ss for the brands assigned;
  1. Pricing:Partner with sales, marketing, supply chain functions to align pricing with market trend, revenue and EBIT performance;
  • Process improvement, Streamline the inputs/outputs channels and establish a robust process and calculation schedule for periodic accruals and true-up/down adjustments;
  • All day-to-day business functions in accordance to any relevant Dahabshiil Motors policy;
  • Attract, secure and maintain highly competent, well-trained staff by ensuring the application of sound human resources management practices in accordance with Company Policy, Legislative and Award requirements;
  • Protect Company assets while minimizing insurance premium cost and Worker's/Accident Compensation exposure by enforcing fire prevention, safety and good housekeeping procedures and practices in line with Company Policy, Award and Legislative requirements;
  1. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annually progress reports;
  • Conduct him/her both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Dahabshiil Motors and in no way jeopardize group commercial efforts;
  • Assist in any other task or duty assigned by the Executive Vice Chairman.

 

Skills and qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree from reputable local or international universities from relevant field like management, mechanical, automotive, business administration. Masters will be added advantage;
  2. At least 12 years management of business in automotive industry in particular operations and sales
  3. Minimum 5 years new business development experience in both local and oversea with successful cases, carbon-neutral related experience will be advantage
  4. Minimum 5 years logistic or manufacturing related working experience, hold knowledge of logistic, stocking, product pricing.
  5. At least 6 years leadership with people management skills, minimally managed team more than 20 subordinators
  6. Experience: 7+ Business acumen:  Strong business acumen to be able to summarize complex commercial issues and articulate the issues in a simple, compelling, concise message to persuade various stakeholders from different functions across different regions
  7. Critical thinking:  Strong capability to establish numerical and descriptive logics among different drivers and uncover the unknown beneath the obvious
  8. Attention to details: Attention to detail with capability to identify unusual figures rapidly 
  9. Can do attitude:  Self-motivated, innovative, methodological with can-do attitude to resolve the issue independently and present to the stakeholders in a simple, concise and clear way
  10. Technical accounting: Strong technical accounting background around revenue recognition
  11. Audit mindset: Strong audit mindset and capability to formalize a working paper to demonstrate the logic and calculations with reference to the raw data/accounting principles;
  12. Stakeholder management:  Demonstrated capabilities to foster a strong work relationship with stakeholders at all levels across different functions;
  13. Experience in Somali and/or in the Eastern African region preferred;

Success Factors:

Expert knowledge of automobile industry, sale and marketing management, supply chain management, project management processes and best-practices; Expert knowledge of the automobile industry; Good analytical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; High degree of integrity; Strategic thinking and results oriented; Track record of good management and development skills; Ability to read, evaluate and interpret schematics, diagrams and maps; A high level of personal motivation and enthusiasm; Intermediate knowledge process design frameworks; Advanced project management skills; Advanced conceptual and analytical skills; Advanced C-Level reporting and presentation skills; Advanced negotiations skills; PMP and/or Prince2 certifications required and TILv3 certifications preferred;

Environmental Conditions

This position is based in Hargeisa, Somaliland and is unaccompanied. Travel within Somalia/Somaliland is required to support all offices and group’s programs. This position is eligible for very completive salary package and other benefits as per our Human Resource policy. Dahabshiil Motors Team members represent the company and Dahabshiil Group both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit to a field posting.
