LINE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
JOB SUMMARY
The Health Project Assistant/Monitor will play a crucial role in the overall implementation of the health project, focusing on monitoring the activities at health centers, preparing and submitting regular reports, assisting in training sessions for health workers, and maintaining effective collaboration with key stakeholders.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
• Monitor the implementation of project activities at designated health centers to ensure adherence to project objectives and timelines.
• Prepare and submit accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, mid-term, and final reports on project progress, achievements, challenges, recommendations, success stories, and case studies.
• Assist in conducting training sessions for health workers on project-related topics, including maternal and child health services and quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with team leaders from health centers to coordinate project activities, address challenges, and promote effective service delivery.
• Engage with officials from the Ministry of Health Development at regional and national levels to provide updates on project activities, seek guidance, and ensure alignment with health sector priorities.
• Support the project team in organizing project events, workshops, and meetings, as needed.
• Collect and analyze data on project outcomes and impact, contributing to evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
1. Monitor the Implementation of Project Activities:
• Conduct regular on-site visits to health centers.
• Review project plans and activities with health center staff.
• Ensure that project milestones are met on schedule.
• Identify any deviations from the project plan and recommend corrective actions.
2. Prepare and Submit Reports, Case Studies and Success Stories:
• Compile data on project indicators.
• Document project progress and any issues encountered.
• Analyze project outcomes against objectives.
• Write comprehensive reports and submit them within the stipulated deadlines.
• Prepare and submit relevant case studies and success stories periodically with the help of the media team.
3. Assist in Conducting Training Sessions:
• Develop training materials and curricula in collaboration with experts.
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions for health workers.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training and provide follow-up support.
4. Collaborate with Team Leaders and Ministry of Health Development officials:
• Hold regular coordination meetings with health center team leaders.
• Discuss project implementation strategies and progress.
• Address any operational challenges promptly if any.
• Foster a collaborative environment for shared learning and problem-solving.
• Schedule and attend meetings with Ministry of Health Development officials.
• Present updates on project activities and progress.
• Seek feedback and guidance to align project activities with national health priorities.
• Advocate for policy changes or support based on project findings.
5. Support Project Activities, Events, and Meetings:
• Plan, assist, and coordinate procurement and logistics for project-related activities, events, and meetings.
• Prepare agendas and materials for workshops and meetings.
• Facilitate communication among project stakeholders.
• Document proceedings and action points from events and meetings.
6. Collect and Analyze Data:
• Oversee the collection of project data from health centers.
• Perform statistical analyses to interpret project data.
• Use data insights to inform project strategy and report on impact.
Skills and qualifications
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for monitoring project activities and preparing reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders and reporting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and build effective partnerships.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting tools to support evidence-based decision-making.
• Capacity to conduct training sessions for health workers on project-related topics.
• Adaptability and flexibility to address challenges and promote effective service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in public health, health management, or a related field. Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
• Not less than TWO years of proven experience in project implementation, monitoring and reporting in the health sector.
• Knowledge of maternal and child health services and health system strengthening principles is an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and build effective partnerships.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting tools.
