JOB TITLE: Female Professional Cook
DEPARTMENT: HR/Admin
BASE LOCATION: Hargeisa (100%)
CONTRACT LENGTH: 7 months – renewable based on performance and budget availability .
REPORT TO: HR/Admin Officer

JOB SUMMARY
· Working under the supervision of an Administrative Officer based in Hargeisa, the holder of this position will be responsible for cooking for the office and guesthouse.
· Cooking three meals for the guesthouse on a daily basis and the regular lunch for all the staff
· Prepare refreshments for all the staff and the guesthouse residents twice per day.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Monitoring supplies and re-ordering stock as needed.
· Ensuring that cooking utensils are clean before each use.
· Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods
· Cleaning and sterilizing food preparation areas.
· Ensure that food orders are completed in a timely manner.
· Efficiently serving all staff and ensure that there will not be any problems with staff orders.
· Ensuring that food health and safety regulations are followed.
· Ensuring each guest order has the correct food and sides
· Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
· Recommending ideas for specials or seasonal dishes
· Monitoring multiple food orders as new orders arrive
· Checking food and ingredients for freshness.
· Arranging and garnishing dishes.
· Ensuring that the kitchen area, equipment and utensils are cleaned
· Thorough experience with hot and cold food preparation
· Ensure that all dishes are cooked well and presented in an aesthetically pleasing way
Others
· Be familiar with and abide by the Islamic Relief code of conduct and other regularly issued codes.
· Perform other duties as assigned by her immediate supervisor.
· Avoid being distracted by your mobile or anything else when at work.
· Avoid unnecessary absences without previously informing your supervisor.
· Communicate with all staff in a protocol-like and respectful manner.
· Respect the diversity of the workplace.
Working Hours
· Normal office hours are from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but sometimes she may work overtime to meet deadlines.
· Working on weekends when needed, especially when gusts are coming.
Skills and qualifications
Qualifications
Diploma or certificate from a culinary school
· Secondary school certificate and Diploma on any other and related qualifications.
Proven experience as cook
Work Experience:
· 2 years of professional experience.
- Experience of exposure of NGOs is value added.
- Food handling certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with general kitchen equipment and appliances
- Strong working knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and safety and sanitation practices
