Position Name: Corporate Lawyer - Dahabshiil Group

Reporting to: Group Legal Advisor

Location: This is a full-time position based in Hargeisa

Job summary Scope

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Corporate Lawyer to join our legal team and work closely with the Group Legal Advisor. You will play a key role in supporting the Group's commercial activities and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will also be involved in a variety of legal matters including handling contracts and other legal documents and providing legal advice on a range of commercial matters.

Key Responsibilities

•      Drafting and negotiating contracts: This includes commercial agreements, financing agreements, employment contracts, and other legal documents.

•      Providing legal advice on a range of commercial matters: This includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.

•      Managing legal risks and disputes: This includes conducting due diligence, managing litigation, and resolving disputes.

•       Staying up to date on relevant legal developments: This includes attending conferences, reading legal publications, and participating in continuing legal education programs.

•      Provide legal guidance on all aspects of corporate governance, board meetings, and shareholder relations.

•      Ensure compliance with applicable corporate laws and regulations in all jurisdictions of operation.

•      Review and update internal policies and procedures to maintain legal adherence and best practices.

•      Lead due diligence processes for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.

•      Advise on international business transactions, navigating various legal systems and regulatory environments.

Qualifications

•      Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a recognized law school. LLM

•      Valid license to practice law in a jurisdiction relevant to Dahabshiil Group's operations.

•      Language – Fluency in English and Somali

Experience and competencies.

•      5+ years of experience in corporate and commercial law, preferably with exposure to the financial services industry.

•      Strong understanding of corporate governance and regulatory compliance frameworks.

•      Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

•      Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.

•      Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements.

•      Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

•      Accuracy, speed, and commitment to meeting deadlines.

•      Self- driven and able to hold oneself accountable.

•      Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
