Position summary
Pharo Primary School in Hargeisa is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Primary English Teacher to
join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English
instruction that fosters strong literacy, communication, reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
The teacher will create engaging, inclusive, and learner-centred classroom experiences that inspire
curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning while supporting the academic and personal
development of every learner. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic boarding

Contract Type: Fixed Term - One year (possibility of renewal)
Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons that meet the diverse learning needs of primary
learners.
• Develop learners' reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension
skills through a variety of effective teaching strategies.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes participation,
creativity, and confidence.
• Assess learners' progress through a range of formative and summative assessment methods and
provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Monitor learners' academic progress and implement appropriate interventions where additional
support is required.
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying learning abilities and learning styles.
• Integrate educational technology and age-appropriate learning resources to enhance teaching and
learning.
• Encourage independent learning, critical thinking, collaboration, and effective communication.
• Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, assessment, and progress in accordance with
school policies.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, school leadership, and parents to support learners' academic
and personal development.
• Participate actively in co-curricular activities, school events, and professional development
opportunities.
• Support school admissions, community engagement, and promotional activities when required

Required Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Education, English, English Language, English Literature, Linguistics, or
a closely related field.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience teaching English at the primary school level.
• Strong understanding of English language instruction, literacy development, and learner-centred
teaching methodologies.
• Experience supporting learners with diverse educational needs.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, educational technology platforms,
and digital learning tools.
• Excellent classroom management, lesson planning, assessment, and student support skills.

• Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Maintain a caring, supportive, and nurturing attitude toward students, encouraging both academic

teaching activities.
• Demonstrate basic technical competence in ICT tools, digital learning platforms, and educational
technologies used to support teaching, learning, and research.
• Exhibit teamwork and collaboration by working closely with teachers and school staff to support
classroom learning and academic programmes.
• Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and responsibility when handling school records, learning
materials, and student information.
• Adhere to child safeguarding and protection policies, ensuring the safety, dignity, and well-being of all
students.
• Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment by being vigilant, reporting any safeguarding
concerns according to school procedures, and supporting policies that protect children from harm,
abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
