Job description

HASI Consulting, on behalf of Bahnano General Trading, seeks an entrepreneurial, dynamic and professional Operations Manager.  Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall operations of the company including managing company branches, sales and distribution, marketing, business development, etc. Though based in Hargeisa, the Operations Manager will travel frequently to other regions of Somaliland and the other cities in the Horn of Africa. 

Bahnano General Trading is a leading company engaged in both food stuff and stationary business sectors. The company is based in Hargeisa Central Market and has established branches in Hargeisa, Burco and Wajale. The company has also agents and operations in other cities of Somaliland and the neighbouring countries. Company products include 1) Food Stuff and 2) Stationary.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

·         Contributes to the strategy development and implements of the company’s strategic plans 

·         Ensure that daily activities and operations are in line with the company’s strategic plans

·         Manages and supervises the branch managers, sales and distribution teams, marketers, and other relevant staff.

·         Ensures that company operations are executed effectively and efficiently

·         Constantly supervises operations team and practices transparent accountability

·         Sets sales targets and forecasts with the advice and cooperation of the branch managers, sales team, markets and other company executives including the finance and admin team as well as the owners.

·         Identifies and forecast the sources of sales and areas where new sales can be generated

·         Allocates and distributes products to the branches to ensure effective supply chain and

·         Plans sales territories and assigns sales teams to the defined sales territories

·         Supervises and controls branch managers, sales staff and markers to ensure that they achieve sales targets. 

·         Develops and updates customers care standards

·         Ensures customers care standards are followed to realize customer satisfaction

·         Follow up customers and ensure that customer complaints are solved effectively

·         Assists the finance department to make accurate entries, proper cash management, credit management, and other finance related activities.

·         Assists the finance department in developing and implementation of the credit policy

·         Assists the finance department to follow up and collect the customer debts

·         Contributes significantly to the recruitment policy

·         Forecasts material requirement plan

·         Ensures no-stock out policy and makes sure that profitable products are moving out.

·         Motivates and encourages operations staff

·         Help Promote  a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale

·         Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company

·         Coordinating different teams to foster exchange of ideas  and provide cross team learning opportunities

·         Market analysis and price variation report Making

·         Creative setting of plan and procedures for operational activities

The Operations Manager will also assist the General Manager with other duties as necessary.

 

Skills and qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

The minimum qualifications for this position include the following:

  • Masters or similar qualification with a focus on business administration, management, marketing, etc. 
  • At least four years’ experience in managing operations specifically the food stuff and/or stationary sectors
  • Experience of business management including marketing and sales.
  • Fluency in English and Somali.

The qualified candidate should possess creativity, innovation, strategic thinking skills, excellent oral and written communication skills; analytical skills, organizational skills, interpersonal and cross-cultural abilities, qualitative and quantitative research experience, proven ability to produce results, and computer literacy.
