Job Summary

The ICT Assistant is responsible of provision of basic helpdesk support to end uses and also regular monitoring and maintenance of ICT services in the national office and program locations.  With close guidance, support, and supervision of the ICT, the ICT Assistant ensures the proper implementation of ICT policies and ICT standards across the MA. The position holder should also work closely with the ICT Manager towards ensuring the delivery of basic ICT services in the MA with high level of availability, security, and reliability.

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:

Supports the implementation of global and regional ICT Policies and Standards

·         Provides effective first hand onsite or remote ICT helpdesk support to end users in the national office and program locations on daily technical issues in timely manner.

·         Ensures end user devices are properly configured as per the standard including but not limited to migration of devices to the cloud such as Azure AD. 

·         Administers, maintains, and regularly monitors ICT services and resources including internet connectivity and network details, business software, and inventories of ICT devices across the member association.

·         Works closely with his/her line manager to ensure that all systems, software, and hardware in use in the MA are in line with global, regional, and local ICT standards, policies, and guidelines.

  • Works to ensure that all systems, software, and hardware operated in the MA are officially licensed and have the latest security patches, updates, and firmware.

·         Reports any ICT security incidents to his/her line manager timely.

·         Escalates problems to the second line of technical support in case they cannot be solved with his/her level.

·         Accomplish any other ICT-related tasks assigned by his/her line manager.

ICT Management

  • Oversees and monitors staff ICT devices usage, to ensure compliance with SOS CV Child Protection policy and ICT usage policy.
  • Ensures that ICT devices are placed in safe and clean locations and conducts regular physical supervision and reports their status on a regular basis.
  • Prepares Individual work plans in close cooperation with his/her line manager.
  • Reports any violation in regard to ICT devices usage as per the ICT Policy and other relevant policies such as child protection policy.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of any information related to programme participants, children, young persons, adults, co-workers, and sponsors.
  • Performs additional responsibilities and duties as within the frame of the technical and administrative areas of expertise.

 

Skills and qualifications

Job Profile

The ICT Assistant of SOS Children’s Villages Somaliland should have the following educational background and technical competencies and skills set to perform the required jobs under the job description.

Experience and competencies – knowledge, skills, abilities

Educational background:

§  BSc degree in Computer Sciences/ Information Technology or related fields is mandatory.

§  Professional certifications in ICDL, or Microsoft (MCP/MCSA) or related are desirable.

§  Professional certification in Networking (CCNA or equivalent) is a plus.

 

Language Skills:

§  Good level of written and spoken communication skills in English and Somali languages are mandatory.

Technical Competencies:

§  Basic knowledge about Microsoft cloud services, windows server, and client operating systems

§  Basic knowledge about computer networking basics.

§  Ability to troubleshoot, maintain and solve end user hardware and software support issues.

§  Basic awareness about current trends in ICT infrastructure, connectivity, and web technologies.

§  Ability to provide basic ICT helpdesk support to end users with minimal guidance and support of the second line of technical support.

Other competencies:

§  Professional communications skills.

§  The capacity to prioritize tasks as per their criticality and urgency.

§  Ability to build relationships with partners and stakeholders such as ISPs.

§  Strong set of personal values of integrity, honesty, and customer service-oriented mindset.

§  Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, changing environment, with an emphasis on high-performance, teamwork, accountability, and results.

Work experience:

§  Relevant work experience of at least one year in similar position is desirable.
