Position Title: MMICD Senior Consultant
Duty Station: Home-based with travel
Classification: Senior Consultant, Category B Individual Consultancy
Duration of Consultancy: Up to 30 working days over a period of 6 months

Project Context and Scope:
IOM’s Mainstreaming Migration into International Cooperation and Development (MMICD) project team based in RO Brussels delivered a comprehensive package of resources in the beginning of 2022 – these resources include e-learning modules, guidelines and sector specific toolkits to support the integration of migration into development sectors. The package of resources was designed to support the European Commission and other development practitioners to integrate migration into their development cooperation interventions and improve knowledge of migration and development to better fast track progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Since the launch of the MMICD package of resources, there has been increased demand for further training and technical advisory (TA) support. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Senior Consultant will work with the project team to lead and facilitate training sessions on migration mainstreaming with EU Delegations (EUDs), EU MS (Member States) and partner countries. They will also provide technical advisory (TA) support to the MMICD project team for the delivery of customized technical assistance to EUDs, EU MS and partner countries.
Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing: Department for Peace and Development Cooperation, Migration and Sustainable Development Unit on Mainstreaming Migration into International Cooperation and Development Project.
Category B Consultants: Tangible and measurable outputs of the work assignment
The consultant is envisaged to carry out the following activities for each of the 3 regions (one travel per region – as mentioned under point 10 Travel below):
- Adapt and customize migration mainstreaming training materials to specific EU Delegations, EU Member States and partner countries.
- Faciliate and lead targeted trainings/capacity building sessions with the MMICD project team delivered to EU and partner country governments by drawing on the MMICD package of resources.
III. Provide technical support to MMICD project team for the delivery of targeted technical assistance to EU Delegations, EU MS and partner countries.
- Provide a short summary report on the mainstreaming migration training and TA delivered for each country, including with recommendations.

Skills and qualifications
Education:
- A Masters or above university degree in social/political sciences, development studies, international relations, migration studies or another related field;
Experience/skills:
- At least 10 years of professional experience in a field related to international development. At least 3 years of relevant experience providing training and capacity building, preferably to senior officials.
- Professional experience working on migration and development; leading migration related projects and providing technical advise on thematic topics such as migration, environment and climate change, labour migration and migration and forced displacement.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities ‐ listening, researching, writing and presenting ‐ demonstrated at a highly consultative level with excellent presentation skills.
- Experience engaging with the European Commission (DG INTPA) and/or other donor institutions is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of migration and sustainable development – identifying linkages between migration and the SDGs and understanding how IOM leverages the HDPN to address the multiple dimemsions of a crisis.
- Knowledge of EU and EU MS priority development interventions and how migration can be mainstreamed within.
Language Requirements:
- Written and spoken proficiency in English
- Good knowledge of French and Spanish is an advantage
Travel required
Undertake duty travel, including up to 3 TDYs to the regions of Sub Saharan Africa, Asia and the Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean. Air travel and DSA shall be provided by IOM separately.
