Job Summary

The Gender and Youth Engagement Officer is responsible for developing and implementing programs that promote gender equality and empower youth within the community. This role involves advocacy, capacity building, and collaboration with various stakeholders to create inclusive opportunities for both genders and youth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development:
    1. Design and implement initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and youth empowerment.
    2. Develop training materials and resources to support gender and youth programs.
  • Advocacy and Awareness:
    1. Advocate for policies and practices that promote gender equality and youth participation.
    2. Conduct awareness campaigns to educate the community on gender issues and youth rights.
  • Capacity Building:
    1. Organize workshops and training sessions for youth and community members on gender equality, leadership, and life skills.
    2. Facilitate mentorship programs to support youth development.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    1. Collaborate with local organizations, government agencies, and community groups to enhance gender and youth initiatives.
    2. Build partnerships to leverage resources and support for programs.
  • Research and Data Collection:
    1. Conduct research on gender and youth issues to inform program development.
    2. Gather and analyze data to assess program impact and community needs.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    1. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of gender and youth engagement programs.
    2. Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and funding agencies.

Skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in gender advocacy, youth engagement, or community development is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of gender issues and youth empowerment strategies.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
