Job Summary

The Livelihood Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of communities. This role focuses on promoting sustainable economic practices, providing training and resources, and supporting community engagement to improve overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development and Implementation:
    1. Design and implement livelihood programs tailored to community needs.
    2. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and impact.
  • Community Engagement:
    1. Build relationships with community members and local organizations.
    2. Facilitate community meetings and workshops to gather input and share information.
  • Training and Capacity Building:
    1. Provide training on income-generating activities, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
    2. Develop educational materials and resources to support training initiatives.
  • Resource Management:
    1. Assist communities in accessing resources, including funding and technical support.
    2. Coordinate with local stakeholders to leverage resources effectively.
  • Data Collection and Reporting:
    1. Collect and analyze data related to livelihood programs and community needs.
    2. Prepare reports for stakeholders and funding agencies.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    1. Regularly assess program outcomes and community impact.
    2. Adjust programs based on feedback and evaluation findings. 

Skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in community development, livelihood programs, or related areas is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable livelihoods concepts and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in data collection and analysis.
