SOS Children’s Villages invite applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates who fulfill the eligibility criterion for the below position.

Position title: Nutrition Nurse

Reporting to: Nutrition Supervisor

Location: Hudur,Bakool,Somalia

Job summary:

The employee is expected to provide a high standard of promoting optimum Nutrition Services, thereby contributing to a safe, efficient and effective service to patients. The employee will also provide assistance to the Nutrition Supervisor and the other Nutritional care team where appropriate, recognizing that the effective management of Nutrition sites depend on effective communication and participation of all members of the team.

Job Responsibilities:

Main duties and Responsibilities:

1.  Promotes the Nutrition of patients

      Provides primary health care services to benificaires in SOS Nutrition centers

      Diagnoses, treat and counsels Patients and/or caregivers who visit the static and mobile nutrition sites/services

      Makes decisions to refer and/or transfer a child to nearing stabilization center in that area or town of operation

      Participates activities to promoting a good health and hygienic environment in the catchment area to prevent potential health and nutrition hazard in the community

2.  Monitoring and reporting

      Oversees the overall work of the Screener, registers and distributors to make sure the smoothness of the work and how benificaires are satisfied with the services

      Receives daily reports from the Screener, and register and at the same time submits all forms of reports to the nutrition Supervisor

      Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity

      Monitor, record and report to the Nutrition in charge any symptoms and changes in patients' conditions.

3.  Provides Community  Nutrition Care and Health Education

      Provides mothers and children from the surrounding community with preventative and curative Nutrition care services.

      Undertakes visits to the local community, as required, in order to assist community members with Nutrition related matters.

4.  Maintains Expert Knowledge on Nutrition and Health Care Issues

       Keeps a stock of informative materials regarding -related Nutrition issues, for general use.

      To work with senior nutrition staff so as to develop their supervision, training and management skills

5.    Helps Ensure Efficient Management of the Site

      Maintains an accurate record of all drugs / medicines disbursed.

      Maintains individual files or cards regarding each patient assisted. Keeps accurate records of all treatments, immunizations, weighing etc.

      Helps ensure all payments are properly collected and receipted.

      Helps maintain the Nutrition centre in a clean and comfortable condition.

6.  Data protection.

At all times ensures that personal data of donors, sponsors, SOS CV beneficiaries and their families as well as SOS co-workers is handled confidentially and in accordance with prevailing SOS-Kinderdorf International data protection laws.

Skills and qualifications

Essential

      Bachelor’s degree in Nurse, PH or related field

    Minimum 3 years of progressive professional experience in Managements of Immunization, or had work with Health Partner for MCH Projects

     Excellent command in Somali and English

      Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

      Ward Management Skills

      Basic Knowledge and experience Nutrition

    Proactive, result oriented, independent, able to identify and carry out duties with minimum supervision

   Problem solving skills
