Job description

Purpose of the Job

To ensure sustainability, growth, and profitability, the accomplishment of tasks, participation in preparation and consolidation of an annual plan, budget report, monitoring and Evaluating projects activities as delivered as planned, analyzing consolidating report quarterly and yearly with comparing the other competitors’ banks and conducting impact assessment every aspect of the Shabelle bank operational activities.

Main tasks

  • Conduct activities in regard to the preparation of a strategic plan for the Bank;
  • Participate in the preparation of strategic plan management of the Bank;
  • Performs the annual planning activities of the directorate and as well as the Bank;
  • Ensure timely and regular completion of M&E data forms by the other departments
  • Contribute to the writing of quarterly narrative reports:
  • Follow up and see the profitability and growth rate of the Bank;
  • Prepares and consolidates periodic monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports;
  • Participate in studies to assess the Bank’s performance and advise the department regarding the results of studies;
  • Produce planning, monitoring, and evaluation performance report of the Bank in an orderly and timely manner, to the required quality, in line with plans and Shabelle Bank Requirements;
  • Reviews proposals for major capital expenditures to ensure conformity with plans and determines economic justification of proposals;
  • Consolidates and prepares annual plan and budget of the Bank;
  • Prepare and consolidates the action plan of the bank;
  • Periodically analysis of the Bank performance in with comparison Competing for other banks
  • Gather macroeconomics studies on the domestic economy and its impact on the financial services in general and the banking industry in particular;
  • Gather and maintains statistical data on the banking industry;
  • Develop the budgeting process and attend the budget meetings.
  • Prepare of special reports for business strategy.
  • Participate in the preparation of the Annual Budget and monthly Budgets.
  • Review the expenses against the budget (Variance analysis).
  • Participate in the pricing structure of the Bank.
  • Design effective budget models for departments and the entire company with collaborating Director Planning and Monitoring & Evaluation.
  • Analyze financial information (e.g. revenues, expenditures, and cash management) to ensure all operations are within budget.
  • Review budget requests for approval.
  • Forecast future budget needs.
  • Identifying variances between actual and budgeted financial results at the end of each reporting period.
  • Suggesting spending improvements that increase profits

Skills and qualifications

·         BA in social science, statistics, economics, accounting, or equivalent,

·         Five years of Monitoring & Evaluation  experience in complex project

·         Strong analytical skills – Excel proficiency

·         Proven documentation and English writing skills

Requirements and skills

·         Hands-on experience with accounting software and statistical packages

·         Knowledge of MS Excel (specifically, advanced formulas, pivot tables, and charts)

·         Familiarity with forecasting methods and data analysis

·         Excellent numeracy skills with an attention to detail

·         Strong analytical skills

·         Knowledge of accounting best practices and regulations

·         Ability to explain planning and budgeting and financial information in plain terms
