Position Summary

 

The GBV Case Worker will provide survivor-centered case management services to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivors in Jowhar Rural. The primary focus is ensuring timely intake, assessment, consent, documentation, referral, and follow-up of cases while upholding strict confidentiality, dignity, and safeguarding principles.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1.  Case Management & Survivor Support

 

·         Conduct intake assessments and secure informed consent from survivors.

 

·         Provide direct support, guidance, and survivor-centered psychosocial assistance.

 

·         Maintain accurate, confidential, and safe case documentation in alignment with protocols.

·         Advocate for survivors' rights and access to timely, appropriate care.

 

2.  Referrals & Coordination

 

·         Facilitate referrals to medical, psychosocial, legal, and protection services.

 

·         Maintain updated referral pathways and strengthen community-based protection networks.

 

·         Collaborate with SCC GBV staff, community mobilizers, and partner agencies.

 

3.  Reporting & Monitoring

 

 

·         Prepare regular activity reports, case statistics, and trend analyses for the Shelter Manager.

 

·         Maintain updated referral directories and coordination meeting notes.

 

·         Contribute to program monitoring and evaluation processes.

Skills and qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

 

 

·         Education: University degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Gender Studies, or a related field.

 

·         Experience: Minimum 2–3 years in GBV case management, protection programming, or clinical/social work in humanitarian settings. Direct experience with intake, assessment, referrals, and follow-up for GBV survivors is required.

 

·         Technical Skills: Strong understanding of GBV response standards, secure documentation, and referral pathways. Excellent counseling and communication skills.

 

·         Personal Attributes: Unwavering commitment to confidentiality and survivor dignity; strong resilience and interpersonal skills to work effectively within high-stress humanitarian contexts.

 

·         Languages: Fluency in Somali; working knowledge of English.
