Responsibilities

Generic responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Implement delegated CC project  portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement

Specific Responsibilities

  • Participate in activity planning, coordination and execution of the  Livelihoods activities in increasing access to  self-employment, wage-employement  and other livelihoods income source, establishment of vulnerable households and constant market demand  monitoring. 
  • Fully Responsible for the operational activities of Food Security and Livelihoods  such as Social safety Net cash transfer, market price monitorings, distributions of vouchers/skill tools and redemption of vouchers. 
  • Conduct frequent site visits and trainings, monitor adoption of practices, and collect data from farmers.
  • Establish and develop various locally applicable agricultural interventions and conduct capacity building of local farmers and the local agriculture sector.
  • Facilitate and provide guidance to farmers on appropriate cropping patterns, farming techniques, etc.
  • Provide relevant technical inputs and collaborate with the project Pre-Design team to design and deliver the participatory community assessments and co-create the project.
  • Engage and build strong relationships with community members, analyzing data collected to identify agricultural-related gaps, designing priority action plans and training modules on improved agricultural techniques.
  • Regularly monitor and review the overall commodity movements such as food deliveries, storage, transport and distribution at the site, verifying if the amounts received have been properly recorded as suitable, damaged or suspected to be damaged
  • Responsible for Preparation of  Cash transfer payment sheet, Post Distribution monitoring with the support  M&E and making use Beneficiares receive their entitelments.
  • Contribute/lead Beneficiares selection, Registration and verification in transparent manner
  • Lead/conduct  community mobilisation/consultation meetings  and beneficiary selection
  • Beneficiary enrolment in TVET/skills training programmes and support development of competitive  business plans
  • Organize and conduct  Income generation activity training, Village saving Load Association Approach (support the selected Bnfs development of business plans)
  • Make sure the LSF project are addressed and consider gender equality, disability issue
  • Train the the Community committees on Beneficiaries selection criteria and right of Vulnerable benefinicireis
  • Assist in the implementation of the plans of action, review achievement and constraints, and provide feedback accordingly
  • Remain alert to identify and appropriately report any emerging  PoCs (Refugees, Asylum Seeker, Returnees, IDPs) issues
  • Represent NRC in Sectoral and Cluster meetings for livelihoods project
  • Ensure that all documentation of the Project is promptly and correctly filled and archived as necessary
  • Carry out weekly/monthly market price monitoring to determine market demand and commodity pricing.   
  • Prepare weekly, biweekly and monthly reports and also assessment reports as appropriate
  • Lead the Community sensitisation on cash based social transfer eligibility criteria and service referrals
  • Supervise, train and appraise the Livelihoods Project Assistants.
  • Any other work assigned by line manager

•       Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian context

•       Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts preferably refugees, asylum seekers and returnees.

•       Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong analysis skills (qualitative and qualitative)
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Good understanding of complex emergencies and crisis contexts
  • Flexible and creative
  • Strong organizational and logistical skills
  • Goal oriented with ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision.
  • Ability and willingness to work and live in challenging conditions
  • Excellent computer skills.

Context/Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • University degree preferably in Economy, Business management, agriculture, nutrition, social sciences, development studies or other relevant discipline, Master agree is adding advantage
  • At least Minimum of 5 years’ relevant working experience specically, the Livelihoods programming in the area; Self-employment, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Apprenticeship schemes.
