About the Humanitarian Policy Group
The Humanitarian Policy Group (HPG) is one of the world’s leading teams of policy researchers and analysts working on humanitarian issues. We combine influential, high-quality policy analysis with a capacity to act as an independent catalyst and platform for dialogue and debate.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team to support a number of workstreams under our HPG’s current Integrated Programme People, power and agency, and/or current HPG priorities, including humanitarian dilemmas in Ukraine and humanitarian accountability.
We are seeking to appoint a Research Officer to join ODI’s Humanitarian Policy Group. Under the supervision of a Senior/Research Fellow, you will contribute to designing and delivering innovative, high-quality and policy-relevant research, policy advice and public-affairs initiatives. You will support and/or author literature reviews, research reports, policy briefs and other documents for publication on a range of important and interesting policy agendas.
HPG’s work ranges from providing policy support and advice to governments and humanitarian actors, to engaging in public affairs and policy debates, to long-term empirical research programmes. Recent programme highlights include:
Skills and qualifications
Knowledge and Qualifications
- A degree and post-graduate degree in relevant discipline
- Active knowledge of key international institutions in the humanitarian sector and beyond
Experience
- Experience in producing research outputs in a short period of time and for different audiences
Skills/Abilities
- Excellent analytical and writing skills
- Good presentation and networking skills
- Multitasking skills - ability to work flexibly across multiple projects
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate successfully and cultural awareness
- Ability to work on own initiative
