Position Title: Branch Manager
Duty Station: Mogadishu, Banadir Region – Federal Republic of Somalia
Reporting Line: Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer / Managing Director
Supervisory Responsibility: Overall supervision of all branch staff, including operations officers, sales staff, insurance agents, claims officers, and administrative personnel, as applicable.
BACKGROUND & CONTEXT
SAHAN INSURANCE is a duly licensed and fully Sharia-compliant insurance provider operating within the Federal Republic of Somalia. To strengthen service delivery, ensure regulatory compliance, and support sustainable business growth in Mogadishu, the Company seeks to recruit a competent and experienced Branch Manager. The position provides leadership and oversight of all insurance operations at the Mogadishu Branch and serves as a vital link between the Branch and Head Office.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Branch Manager is responsible for the effective management, administration, compliance, and overall performance of the Mogadishu Branch. The position holder shall ensure that branch operations are conducted efficiently, profitably, and in full compliance with Somali insurance laws, regulatory requirements, internal Company policies, and Sharia principles. The Branch Manager shall serve as the Authorized Insurance Representative of the Company at branch level and represent the Company in official and professional engagements.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Branch Operations Management: Plan, organize, and oversee day-to-day branch operations to ensure smooth workflow, service quality, and compliance with Company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Underwriting & Policy Administration: Supervise all underwriting activities for takaful and insurance products (health, motor, property), ensure proper risk assessment, adherence to underwriting guidelines, and accurate policy issuance, renewals, and endorsements.
- Sales, Marketing & Business Development: Lead initiatives to promote Sharia-compliant insurance products, expand the client base, strengthen customer relationships, and achieve assigned premium and revenue targets. Supervise insurance agents and brokers for effective market performance.
- Claims Management: Ensure that claims are properly received, registered, reviewed, and processed in a timely, fair, and transparent manner, coordinating with relevant stakeholders such as loss adjusters, authorities, and medical service providers.
- Financial Management & Reporting: Oversee premium collection, safeguard Company funds, ensure proper cash handling and bank deposits, and prepare operational, financial, and performance reports. Support internal and external audits.
- Human Resources & Office Administration: Supervise and evaluate branch staff, promote professionalism and ethical conduct, manage branch assets, office administration, and security arrangements. Identify staffing needs and recommend recruitment or training initiatives.
- Risk Management, Ethics & Governance: Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks, prevent insurance fraud or misrepresentation, ensure confidentiality, and promote ethical conduct and Sharia-compliant corporate governance.

Skills and qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum three to five years of experience in insurance, banking, or financial services, with at least three years in a managerial or supervisory role
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- In-depth knowledge of insurance operations, regulations, and Sharia-compliant products
- Excellent communication, negotiation, financial, and analytical skills
- Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, reporting systems)
Fluent in Somali with working knowledge of English
