Job Title: Partnerships Officer

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority)

Resource Mobilization

        Contribute to the development and implementation a partnership & resource mobilization work plan in line with the WFP country strategic programme in Somalia.

        Support coordination of donors’ accounts. This will include supporting donor intelligence efforts and identify new accounts for resourcing, including IFIs, the private sector, innovative financing and thematic funding opportunities

        Help maintain effective relationships with key external partners including government donors, IFIs, and other resourcing partners. Join regular exchanges and meetings, and ensure that requests are proactively addressed

        In coordination with CO units, support the preparation of funding proposals and concept notes

        In coordination with CO units, support the preparation of reports on grants received

        In coordination with CO units, support on grants management of donor accounts

        Maintain coordination with HQ and Regional Bureau partnerships teams on all matters concerning resource mobilization and funding.

Partnerships and Advocacy

        Contribute to the identification and articulation of WFP’s key value propositions for different external partners including the government, UN agencies, government, IFI, private sector, and other partners

        Coordinate the development of key messaging on emerging issues for discussion with key external partners.

        Analyse project results and prepare information products including PowerPoint decks and briefing notes, to share information with external stakeholders.

        In coordination with CO units, prepare briefing documents for management meetings with donors and partners.

        Support the organization of events, including launches and briefs, for external stakeholders.

        Support management with the preparation of official communications to Somalia government, donors, UN agencies, INGOs, IFIs, international organizations and others as required

        Maintain effective relationships with external partners, in order to keep them informed on important, strategic issues of relevance to WFP.

Internal Coordination

        Lead knowledge management for the team, including managing the Partnerships Team sites, tools and processes.

        Maintain awareness of current activities, political and social events of UN and other multilateral bodies/governments, conduct analysis to understand how they may impact WFP activities and programmes and provide timely information to WFP staff for decision-making.

        Contribute to the strengthening of internal coordination and partnerships across WFP Somalia functions and offices in Somalia.

        Contribute to the achievement of the WFP Somalia Country Strategic Plan and annual priorities as required.

        Perform other duties as required.

Skills and qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Education: Advanced degree in Political Science, International Development, Law, Marketing communications, any other relevant field OR First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training courses.

Experience: At least one (1) year of professional experience in International Development or International Relations with an Advanced University Degree OR First University Degree with a minimum of three (3) or more years of relevant experience.

Languages: Fluency (level C) in English language and Somali Language.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

        Relationship/partner management, excellent writing and analytical skills, proactive and self-starter, proposal writing, report writing.

        Some knowledge of financing for development, some prior knowledge of Somalia or WFP would be an asset.
