Projects Summary
The five-year USAID-funded Bar ama Baro (“Teach or Learn” in Somali – BAB) program is a comprehensive primary education program designed to support the government of Somalia in providing quality non-formal education services to marginalized children across the country. Through working at both the national and local level, BAB systematically and strategically assists government and community actors in designing and delivering comprehensive non-formal education services to children most in need of accelerated education assistance. Specifically, the BAB project aims to increase student enrollment in accelerated basic education centers (ABE), improve student safety, monitor improvements in literacy, numeracy and socio-emotional skills, and improve the Federal Government of Somalia’s capacity to standardize and regulate the accelerated education space.
Position Summary
Creative Associates International, Inc. (Creative) is seeking a Monitoring Program Support Officer based in Banadir for USAID-funded BAB an education project in Somalia. He/She will play a crucial role in the successful implementation of the Bar ama Baro ‘Teach or Learn” project in Banadir District. This role involves overseeing, coordinating, and gathering data related to project activities, ensuring the smooth functioning of ABE centers and supporting the program’s overall objectives to enhance the quality of ABE education.
Reporting & Supervision
The Monitoring Program Support Officer reports to MERL team based in Mogadishu-BAB Office
Staff directly reporting to this post: None.
Primary Responsibilities
Monitoring the implementation of the Bar ama Baro project within Banadir region and submit weekly progress reports consistent with the program weekly reporting requirements
Conducting regular visits to schools to ensure the effective delivery of ABE education to all BAB supported schools, complete the online monitoring tool, and ensure its submission after each visit to each single class.
Supporting coaching activities to enhance teaching quality and learnin<span lang="EN-US" style="letter
Skills and qualifications
First degree in development studies, education, economics, applied statistics or any other relevant areas.
Minimum two years practical experience in project coordination /implementation in an international non-governmental organization or other international relief/development body; or master’s degree with humanitarian program experience
Proven experience in monitoring and implementing education or development projects. Strong understanding of Accelerated Basic Education
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Qualifications and Certificates
An updated CV that reflects the education, skills, and experience required in Attachment 1, and demonstrates the ability to carry out the scope of work.

Other:
The expected time will be 20 hours per week. Travel will be reimbursed per BAB policies.
