Overview of position
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in operations, reporting, and client services within the humanitarian and development sector. The role is designed as a learning journey, giving interns exposure to real projects while providing strong guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities. At CTG, internships follow the 70-20-10 learning model:
- 70% on-the-job exposure – shadowing colleagues, assisting with client accounts, clients’ engagements and contributing to client reports and operational tasks.
- 20% learning from others – guided by a dedicated supervisor, supported by a mentor, and collaborating across teams.
- 10% formal learning – onboarding briefings, in-house trainings, and access to CTG’s Kaya online training platform.
Role objectives
Skills and qualifications
Intern’s responsibilities:
The intern’s responsibilities will gradually expand with experience and performance:
a) Account Management & Client Support
· Support Account Managers in managing client portfolios and daily operations.
· Assist in preparing client reports, presentations, and follow-up documentation.
· Track client requests, feedback, and action points.
· Support coordination between Account Managers and HQ.
b) Reporting & Data Support
· Support preparation of internal and external reports.
· Maintain trackers for contracts, staffing, invoices, and deliverables.
· Assist in improving reporting tools and processes.
c) HR & Recruitment Support
· Assist with recruitment processes, including shortlisting and documentation.
· Support onboarding and induction of new staff.
· Help organise refresher trainings and town halls.
d) Finance & Administration Support
· Assist in the Preparation of basic financial documents (COOs, quotations, supporting files).
· Support invoice tracking and payment follow-ups.
· Assist with documentation for audits and compliance.
e) Learning & Professional Development
· Actively participate in trainings and mentorship activities.
· Demonstrate initiative in learning CTG systems and processes.
· Apply feedback to improve performance and skills.
Project reporting
This role reports to the Deputy Country Manager
Key competencies
• Recent graduate (within the past year) or final-year student in:
a) Business Administration
b) Management
c) Economics
d) Data Analytics
e) Social Sciences
f) Political Science
g) Or related fields.
• Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• High attention to detail.
• Interest in humanitarian and development work.
• Proactive, flexible, and willing to learn.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written). Somali is an advantage.
