Radiologist
Roles and Responsibilities
· Instruct patients on properly preparing for imaging in advance of the procedure.
· Using devices such as computer tomography (CT) scanners and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines, especially Echocardiography.
· Administer contrast material, both oral and IV.
· Position patients to capture appropriate images.
· Work with lab technicians to guarantee image quality.
· Communicate and discuss test results with other physicians.
· Discuss results with patient, and family members if appropriate.
· Prepare radiology equipment for use, ensuring that it is working properly for accurate scans.
· Review medical records and interview patients to understand their medical histories in preparation for conducting imaging.
· Performing or directing radiology staff to carry out image-guided, diagnostic procedures.
· Reviewing and interpreting medical images to determine patient status and future medical care.
· Determining the exact images required for diagnosis and delivering orders.
· Administering trace amounts of radioactive substances to create and enhance diagnostic images.
· Compiling written reports of results and diagnoses.
· Follow federal, state, and medical center regulations and guidelines at all times when handling patient images
Skills and qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
· complete medical school
· Residency training and specialized in Radiology.
· 3-5 years of experience
· Must know Echocardiography.
· Good organizational ability.
· Technical use of arrayed medical diagnostic equipment.
· Specialized knowledge of X-ray, mammogram, or computed tomography (CT) imaging equipment & Echocardiography.
· Basic math skills to calculate the proper amount of radiation or magnetic resonance during exams.
