The Field Security Assistant reports to the Chief Security Officer through the Head of the Unit.ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the Field Security Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Provide general administrative support services in order to assist the Fire Safety / Security Officers fulfil their duties vis-a-vis staff members and their dependents. 2. Assist with data consolidation and dissemination of relevant security information required for the analysis of the security situation by the Chief Security Officer and Head of the Unit. 3. Assist the Fire Safety and Security Officers with the preparation of any security related documents including Security Plans, Area Security Risk Management (SRM), regular reports and any other reports related to the security section activities as well as providing administrative assistance. 4. Draft correspondence and maintains records for the Unit's Training Courses delivered to security and field mission's personnel. 5. Provide support during the implementation of the Security Plan under the directions of the Chief Security Officer and Head of the Unit. 6. Assist in reviewing the logistics requirements and other related actions required for the preparation of training courses, drills and other security exercises. 7. Assist the Chief Security Officer and Head of the Unit on monitoring the implementation of security policies and procedures. 8. Provide support in organizing and conducting security awareness and preparedness activities, and provides security orientation to newly assigned staff members, as well as conducting security briefings, as required. 9. When and if required, prepare security presentations for the Chief Security Officer and the Security Officers. 10. Conduct regular fire safety inspections of premises to ensure compliance with UN Fire Safety Guidelines and report any fire safety issues to the Fire Safety Officer. 11. Test, clean, inspect and maintain fire and rescue equipment to UNSOS standards, record findings and report any shortcomings or defects. 12. Under the direction of the Fire Safety Officer, respond to scenes of fire or rescue incidents and carry out operations as directed. 13. Skills and qualifications

.Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.Job - Specific QualificationValid driver's license is required. Certificates in advance driving / armored vehicle driving is desirable. Certificate in specialized security training / courses is desirable.

 Work Experience

A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in Security or related areas such as Police and Military experience is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to one (1) year for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Working experience in Administration and Logistical Support is desirable.LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
