SOS Children’s Villages invites applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates who fulfill the eligibility criterion for the below one Position.

Job Title: Temporary Business Development Services Officer.

Location:  Mogadishu

Direct Line Manager: IPD Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Business Development officer supports SOS CV social enterprise sector activities in the respective location of responsibility, working as part of the broader team. The BDS officer is expected to contribute to the success of day care owner, creation of business eco-system and support existing daycare linking to the potential private and public institutions for investment. He/she Engages in activity planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities to ensure timely and quality achievement in line with project plans. The BDS officer builds and maintains effective working relationships with stakeholders at field level, including Day care owners, parents, community leaders and wider community, and local government representatives.

Main duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct needs assessment and business gab analysis of Child Day care centers in Mogadishu.
  • Support the partners to assess the economic potential and opportunities of child day care business in Mogadishu.
  • Develop and provide business development/entrepreneurship skills training for day care owners/managers.
  • Provide technical support to enhance the capacity of day care centers to create an environment of innovative quality business day care services
  • Identify and execute activities that contribute to an increase of income for potential day care services centers in Mogadishu.
  • Identify and resolve issues that hinder the business growth of day cares owners.
  • Monitor and report on performance and perform monitoring and evaluation of the managed program activities
  • Contribute to development of business plans and work with day care owners to execute business development initiatives.
  • Support Day care owners to identify opportunities for growth and diversify business services,
  • Develop business and marketing plans in coordination with Day care owners to achieve revenue goals.
  • Assist in day care’s owners in branding, advertisements and marketing strategies.
  • Support day care owners/managers to identify new business opportunities in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow.
  • Provide technical support to day care owners/managers in strategic planning to enhance the operation and reputation of day care centers.

 

Skills and qualifications

  • Degree in economics, finance, business administration and/or related fields.
  • Five years of relevant work experience working in the field of SME-development.
  • Deep technical knowledge in SME development as demonstrated by successful work experience.
  • Sound analytical, organizational, project management and negotiation skills and the ability to conduct training and workshops/seminars
  • Advanced computer skills, including word processing, spread sheet, power point, data management, and other packages
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Somalia with an ability to interact with a very broad spectrum of stakeholders.
