Job Title: TB Project Officer

Muslim Aid is a registered Islamic faith-based, international non-profit organisation which was established in the UK in 1985. It is a registered charity with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (Charity Registration No: 1176462). The mission and purpose of Muslim Aid is to serve humanity and relieve poverty, through its education, livelihoods, and health development projects, whilst also aiming to respond to emergencies. Muslim Aid Somalia is seeking Monitoring and Evaluation Accountability and Learning Officer.

Summary of Role

The position holder will oversee implementation activities in the TB management units (TBMUs) under Muslim Aid Somalia. He or She will ensure the TBMUs implement TB services in accordance with WHO agreed guidelines, submit quarterly reports, conduct regular supervision and on job training as required. In addition, the position-holder will work with Health and Nutrition Officer to identify integrated health programming opportunities, capture, and document successes achieved in this model.

About the Role: The main responsibilities of this role will be to:

  • In collaboration with Health & Nutrition Officer, ensure TBMUs operate under the required WHO recommendations and standard TB Treatment guidelines are put in place.; .
  • To advise on TBMUs stocks levels of anti TB drugs and laboratory supplies and facilitate the acquisition of drugs and supplies by all the TBMUs.
  • Conduct regular site visits to TB facilities, and to identify challenges and co-create action plans to speed implementation and support quality treatment outcomes.
  • Develop monthly and quarterly reports of the TB project based on the donor and MA guidelines.
  • Supervise and mentor facility-level sub-recipients’ partners in the proper implementation of TB/PAL diagnosis and treatment protocols.
  • Identify staff capacity gaps and mobilize training to improve the operational and organizational capacity of sub-recipient partners.
  • Conduct periodic site visits and onsite data verification and data quality audits, providing reports to M&E function to target improvements in data quality, keep an updated database with all the information from TBMUs.
  • In close collaboration with Health and Nutrition Officer, promote integration of health services in the TBMUs as guided by the strategy and plans for integration of health service delivery.

Skills and qualifications

About You: To be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Public health, Nursing with project management preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience in implementing or managing health projects.
  • Experience working in project management cycle, report writing, database and grant management.
  • Experience working in Somalia with the community and various institutions.
  • Possess proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
