Terms of Reference for Network Engineer

Position Summary:

The Network Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining the network and cloud infrastructure for SPS enterprise IT and services. This role involves ensuring secure connectivity and infrastructure security under the guidance of the information security team as well as carrying out systems administration tasks on cloud and on-premises infrastructure. The individual will work closely with participating institutions' technical teams to ensure seamless and secure operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network and cloud infrastructure management, and Linux and Windows Systems administration with at least 3 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1.  Network and Cloud Infrastructure Management:

§   Manage and maintain network and cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability and security.

§   Implement and manage monitoring systems to ensure optimal performance and availability.

§   Collaborate with the information security team to secure infrastructure and data.

§   Design and configure cloud networking and on-premises data infrastructure and connectivity.

2.  Technical Liaison:

§   Liaise with technical teams of participating institutions to ensure secure and efficient connectivity.

§   Provide technical support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders as needed.

§    Provide tier 1 support to the participating institutions IT departments

3.  Infrastructure Security:

§   Work under the guidance of the information security team to implement security measures.

§   Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and procedures.

§    Implement security controls under the guidance of the information security team.

§    Implement remote secure access for consultants

§    Implement PKI on Linux and Windows environments

4.  IT Service Management:

§   Utilize knowledge of IT service management to enhance service delivery and support.

§   Contribute to the development and implementation of IT service management processes.

§   Provide enterprise IT services for the other departments of SPS

§   Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

§    Minimum 2year of experience in managing network and cloud infrastructure.

§   Certifications in networking (CCNA) and cloud infrastructure (AWS and/or OCI) are required.

§   Skilled and competent with Linux and Windows systems administration

§    Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

§    Ability to implement and manage monitoring systems and observability tools is critical.

§    Knowledge of IT service management frameworks is preferred.
