    Reports to GESI Coordinator (Technical Line-Manager) & PPDP Project Coordinator (Line Manager)

    Duty station: NIS Mogadishu office with extensive travels to all regions

    The Nordic International Support Foundation (NIS) is a Norwegian-registered non-profit organization. Headquartered in Oslo, Norway. NIS recently finalized a project in Sri Lanka and currently implements projects in Somalia, Myanmar, and the Sahel.

    NIS Somalia is currently implementing a wide range of stabilization projects in all different FMS of Somalia. The organization has offices in Mogadishu, Hargeisa, Garowe, Baidoa, Kismayo, Bulo-Burte and operational presence in all Somalia regions.

    The Nordic International Support Foundation (NIS) stabilization programmes aim at contributing towards a more inclusive post-conflict society, which sees the value of diversity and gender equality. NIS theorizes that the early stages of the Somalia state-building process present an opportunity to challenge the patriarchal power dynamics that disempower women, girls, and male youth. As such, an important goal of NIS stabilization initiatives is to contribute to increased gender equality and social inclusion (GESI).

    NIS foundation is looking for an intern to assist GESI unit and will be working closely with GESI Coordinator and Project Coordinator to support the implementation of GESI initiatives under the Puplic-Private-Development-Partnership programme. The GESI Intern will mainly be involved in data collection activities, assist in data entry, organize meetings, document minutes, and support archiving GESI documents into files.

    He / She will be involved in different activities and any tasks assigned by supervisor, as well as assisting PPDP & PROSPERIS program teams, as necessary.

    The tasks to be performed mainly include:-

    • Support data collection activities and schedule monitoring visits for GESI related projects.
    • Assist data entry tasks relevant to GESI projects in IMS and in NIS share point system.
    • Assist in review of Labourers reports submitted and document if any GESI gaps exist.
    • Organize meeting with partners and take minutes.
    • Create file for GESI documents and archive properly.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.

    Skills and Qualifications

    1. Graduate of 2023, preferably in development studies, social science, social work or business administration or relevant field.
    2. Excellent writing and speaking skills in English (other languages are an asset).
    3. Strong interest in learning about and taking part in the implementation of NIS programs; in particular, on issues related to Gender equality and social inclusion globally and in Somalia.
    4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    5. Proven ability to work successfully both independently and in a team.
