Program Overview
The Merit Advisory Accounting Internship is a 6-month, full-time structured program designed to transition graduates from theoretical knowledge to practical, real-world accounting application.
Interns will actively participate in:
- Bookkeeping and transaction recording
- Financial reporting processes
- ERP-based accounting (Odoo and related systems)
- Client accounting assignments
The program includes:
- Phase 1 (Foundation – 3 Months): Structured training and guided practice
- Phase 2 (Application – 3 Months): Hands-on work with real clients and assignments
Key Learning Areas
Interns will gain practical exposure in:
1. Core Accounting Practice
- Double-entry principles and journal postings
- Ledger management and trial balance preparation
- Adjustments (accruals, prepayments, depreciation)
2. Financial Reporting
- Preparation of basic financial statements
- Understanding P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
- Supporting monthly closing processes
3. ERP & Accounting Systems
- Hands-on use of accounting software (Odoo ERP)
- Chart of Accounts structure and mapping
- Transaction workflows and controls
4. Reconciliations & Controls
- Bank and cash reconciliations
- Accounts receivable and payable tracking
- Basic internal control practices
5. Professional Discipline
- Documentation and working papers
- Task management and reporting
- Communication in a professional environment

Skills and qualifications
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Mandatory) in:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Business Administration (Accounting/Finance focus)
- Or related fields
- Strong interest in accounting and financial management
- Willingness to learn and work in a structured environment
